yes, there was never a ban on personal electronics.

HOWEVER please note

- all electronic devices are to be in the 'off' position for takeoff and landing - ie below 10,000 feet
- please ensure that you have headsets for DVD players

Ditto on the headsets. DS's portable DVD player came with 2 sets that fold up, they are SO easy to travel with.

Not for Americans anyway. There was for people travelling from the UK last summer. They were only permitted ID/passport/boarding pass in a clear plastic bag.
This added to a lot of confusion for Americans flying domestic. There was a lot of misinformation early on with the media frenzy last summer.
