Port Transfers -- Barcelona

We have booked Disney-provided transportation from BCN to the cruise port. Upon arrival at BCN, I assume we will need to claim our own checked bags out of baggage claim and take them through customs upon arrival? Then we would take them ourselves to the Disney-provided transportation to port? In other words, even with pre-booked Disney transportation, arriving in Barcelona is not like the "Disney Magical Express" going to Disneyworld where you don't see your bags after checking them with the airline until they are delivered to your room?

Also, assuming that is the case, will we offload our checked bags ourselves from the Disney transport at the port? Or will the bags go straight to the ship from the transport bus without us taking them off the bus?

We've never arranged Disney port transportation from the airport to the cruise terminal because we have always flown in at least a day or two beforehand. This cruise, our end-of-year school schedules did not allow that luxury.

You are correct, you will need to handle your bags after disembarking. This is the case for every cruise regardless of transport. At disembarkation, you must claim your bags, take them through customs and make any declarations and then you do what you need to with them be it Disney transport, or some other choice (storage, cab ride, other shuttle service, train, etc.)

Once you have deplaned, if I remember correctly you go through Customs and then retrieve you luggage from the carousel. We flew Delta and arrived embarkation morning. There was a DCL represtative near the carousel where we retrieved our luggage who guided us to the waiting bus outside. The diver loaded our bags for us and then took us on a tour of Barcelona as we had arrived around 9am. I also believe that once at the port our bags were off loaded to waiting porters who took them on the ship.
