Hi Andre - at POR now. Took me emailed 4:30pm food menu photos, but got undelivered notice - your email services thinks I'm spamming you. When I have time I could post to photobucket. I am going back now so can get carving station photos too. Forgot screen 1 on burger bay, too. FYI manager says new items are muffuletta flatbread, a flatbread and a biscuit at breakfast. Do you need breakfast pics? I can do that tomorrow.

Thanks for the pics and the email chat live from my favourite place! The pics have all come through fine (as you know) and thank you again for your help.

I'll be in London for a couple of days over the weekend, so will probably update the menus on the site next week. There's nothing too major from what I put up recently, just a couple of slightly changed items a few small price tweaks, but it's good to keep everything right up to date for everyone. Thanks again for the help.

Andre

Fridge pics.

(1) POR Royal garden view room; Avanti brand. Was plugged in and running, but not very cold. No sign taped on it (to not use). Was there when we checked in 8/25. Gallon jug fits, but you can't put anything in the door's bottom bracket. See below; not 100% sure this is a "new" fridge.

(2) Our connecting POR Royal garden view room: had old frig with sign to not use taped to it. I was plugged in and running. Was changed out after we checked in on 8/25 for what is definitely a brand new fridge. Works well - cold! Black & Decker, tiny freezer. Gallon jug doesn't really fit - door squashes it a bit. Can't put anything in lower door bracket if you put a gallon jug in. Haven't tried the freezer. I think one or two lean cuisines would fit in there. Small ones.

Same as immediately above; put gallon of milk in to show you size:

Soda 2 liter bottles fit fine in both.

I know we aren't 60 days from November quite yet, but I still want to see a November check-in do fast pass+/magic band to be sure, since the "test" is supposed to run through the end of October.

Someone checking in at the beginnning of November, be sure to update whenever you are within 60 days please.

We check in on Nov 2nd. I will definitely let you know when and if I am able to checkin online.do MB's etc. :thumbsup2

Hi everyone, I just wanted to drop a quick note about our recent stay at POR. We were there for a week in mid August. This is not a trip report, just a couple tid bits about the resort:
We did online checking and I faxed in some requests. All of our requests were met and our room was awesome. AB building 39. for those people concerned about the walking don't be because it is a beautiful stroll on property to get the the island and over to the main buildings. grounds are amazing and well kept. Also, I was pleasantly surprised that even with all the water around you there were no mosquitos.
We did not get a fridge but when I asked at the front desk they happily comped us $15 per night. We were prepared and had a cooler with us and getting buckets of ice gave the kids, 5 and 7, something to do every morning and evening.
Every cast member we encountered was very nice, the guy taking care of our room was excellent.
Food court is a bit hectic especially at peak times but we did not eat there too often as we had adrs at some really good restaurants. The food at the food court was pretty good for cafeteria style food.
The AB rooms are fantastic. Our kiddos loved the theming and the pull down bed.
The quite pool was nice but we had more fun at the main pool and the kiddos gave the slide a big thumbs up.
All in all if you are considering POR I highly recommend it. we will absolutely be staying there again.

What's the overall opinion on POR? Yay or nay? Especially if one is used to the value resorts?? Thx :)

My opinion is yay. Compared to Sports but also compared to some DVC resorts. Beautiful, lovely, and pretty. We've only stayed in a royal room yet but we are looking forward to a standard room soon.

Just noticed how poorly I wrote that message! I rarely use the phone for email - so hard to see or type! Oh well - Andre followed up with me, and I got him a bunch of photos, I think others are too, so he'll have us all set up soon I'm sure via his website.

In case someone is interested re: my frigs. I checked in (from POFQ split stay) on Sunday August 25, to 2 POR royal garden view rooms. Connecting rooms. One had a frig with the sign taped on it to not use it. It was plugged in and running. Maintenance came within an hour of our getting into the room to replace it with a Black & Decker new fridge. Works great. Its cold. Haven't tried keeping something frozen in the very small freezer compartment.

The other room had a frig, running, with no sign taped on it. It's Avanti brand with no freezer compartment. Here's the thing: it doesn't work well - just like the fridges I've had at most, if not all, of my 8 or so stays at Disney resorts over the past few years. Meaning, not very cold. BUT: when I checked into POFQ Tuesday August 20, I had no frig; they brought me an Avanti that looks exactly the same. It worked fine.

So, not sure if the Avanti fridges are the new or old ones, if the B&D brand ones are the new ones, or if there is a combo of brands for the new ones.

Will post photo of both frigs because someone asked before for one in the POFQ thread. Gotta go take the photos...

Thanks for that info. I hope I get a working/ cold fridge.

I've only stayed at POR once, and POFQ once. The only value I've stayed at is Pop. I really liked POR, way better than Pop. There are so many flowers and shrubs and trees, the landscaping is very lush. I think it compares to a deluxe resort as far as the grounds and landscaping go. It's so pleasant to walk the paths, and along the river. Pop felt so much more crowded to me, and all those big icons are so in your face. It's not really my style, though if it's all the budget will allow then I'd stay there again. Still, given a choice, I'd choose POR any day over Pop.

ETA: I liked the small size of POFQ, but still prefer the feel of POR even if it means more walking. We have also stayed at CBR and we liked it, but again, prefer POR.

Question for anyone who can answer. We are going to be at POR in 2 weeks :cheer2: Can't wait. However I do like to work out and I have only just now realized there is no gym facilities here. I do also run/jog but I am thinking it may be very hot to do this. I know many of the deluxe hotels have gyms. Are we allowed to use those? Or no? This is our first time in a mod.

Plenty of trails and paths to jog..cool in the mornings...can not use gyms unless a guest at that resort. We walk 10 miles a day easily, no need to get an extra workout in :)

We haven't stayed yet (our trip isn't until Dec) but out main concern/worry is out kids. I think H & I will LOVE it -- I mean, it looks gorgeous! But our girls are use to theming. Our last stay was in the Nemo suite at AoA, so I hope they don't mind all of the missing characters.

Hopefully it will be warm enough to use the pools because I think the slide will more than make up for the lack of cartoonish decorations.

H & I stayed at Pop in Jan and we were less than thrilled. We're looking forward to the queen bed @ POR! :goodvibes

I had the same concerns (we leave in two weeks). But, after showing my 4 year old photos (thanks Andre!) and telling him about the boat downtown and other unique things, he is excited! We have only ever stayed at Pop. So, theme wise, this is a big change.

Quick question for people who have stay here. Our first full day we have an Akershus ADR for breakfast at 8:20. What time should we be lining up for the bus at POR? It's Friday sept 20th if that matters
