Just Booked POR for Dec 26-Jan 2 this year. Crazy excited as its been a while since I've stayed at POR. I'm assuming it'll be crazy busy that time of year but I need to go during the holidays at some point in my life.

I was initially going to do AOA but switched to POR because I thought that it may not be quite as crazy at a moderate as it would be at a value.

Anyone else go during New Years who can give me done insight as to what I can expect?

Hello,
I have been trying to read all these awesome and helpful posts but I don't have enough time I am on like 3 other threads. Trying to get into the Wishes dessert party and they r all full of info.
I am going to POR with 8 others so we need two rooms but wanted joining rooms. What r my choices for those types of rooms? We would like something close to were we can get the buses to get into the parks quicker.

Thanks, Michelle:)

You can get Connecting rooms (which is what you need to request if you want an internal doorway between the two rooms) in all categories except King Bed (which you wouldn't be booking anyway).#

If you want to be close to everything, including easy access for the main South Depot bus stop, you would be best to book Preferred Location rooms.

Just want to wish Andre and his family safe travels home!! Thanks for the webcam this week- it was so great to click on at will and see the beautiful resort. :)

Running out the door for work, just had to share my excitement........just booked our honeymoon trip for November :cheer2:

We did end up going with a Royal guest room (river view) as we really like the location of those 2 buildings. So excited :)

Thanks, see you all from the other side of the pond tomorrow... :( It's been a great stay though - should have some photos for you soon.

Safe travels Andre, thanks for the webcab. We got over 12 inches of snow here and it was good to see POR when I was feeling gloomy over the weather.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the webcam Andre! I am having serious webcam withdrawl however! It really helped us to get even more excited for our first trip to Port Orleans this spring!!!

I actually sent a fax early this week for a room request. We are arriving on Monday :cool1:
I was very pleased to get a return email from the room inventory manager informing me that all my requests will be met. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I was surpised to get a response.. but super happy :woohoo:

What are people requesting? We are going for the 1st time in april with our 2 boys (both who have bdays the week we will be there)..... I did the online checkin but is there something else I should be doing?

Have a safe trip home, Andre. I too will miss the web cam!! Although it did make me jealous of the people in shorts and swim suits while we were getting two inches of sleet!!

Last time we stayed at POR my grandkids had a blast renting a bike and riding along the river bank. We happen to be bringing bikes this time. my question is are they allowed to ride their own or do they have to rent them?

Anybody know the answer to this or who I can contact?

How far in advance should you send in the fax? I've paid for preferred room in AB, I'd like ground level in building 14, would that be worth requesting?

Thanks Andre,
I believe that is what we have but will double check it.

Oh good, found the new one. Now I need to catch up and really start paying attention since I plan to book this coming weekend.

Does the slide at Riverside spit or dump water from above as you are going down it??

Is there a red light/green light at the top of the slide to tell you when to go down?

Any morning runners here? I found a map of where to go for a run at POR, and was wondering if anyone has run at POR before. My mom wants to run every other morning and wants to know how long the route is and how early she should go to avoid people on the walkways.

If you go to the linked map, it outlines the jogging / bicycle trails with dotted and dashed lines.

Just returned from an 8 night stay at POR. The resort was beautiful, as always. We were in building #35. We loved being close to a quiet pool and the West bus stop, but the walk to the food court to refill our mugs at the end of the day was a bit long. The main pool seemed crazy busy while we were there, so the kids opted to swim in the quiet pool often. Being close to the quiet pool was especially nice when I needed to do a few loads of laundry. We ate dinner at the Riverside Mill several nights and were always pleased with it.

I'm not sure if this will answer your question. But I do know that they allowed my friends children to use their scooters around POR. I would assume of they allowed scooters them they would allow Bikes.

I just changed our room requests from riverview MB upper floor to AB garden view corner room. Most of the king rooms in AB seem to be corner rooms so I hope I'm not adding to the corner request overload :rotfl2:.

DH decided a more tucked away location in AB sounded better. I think I will fax a request for buildings 37, 38, or 39. Or I may just leave it up to the top notch room assignment team at POR. I have only stayed in Oak Manor and Magnolia Terrace. I loved both rooms but we didn't see much of the resort everyday since our rooms were on the river side and it was a quick walk to main building or parking lot/bus stop.

This will be our first stay without a car. It is ME and the busses for us this trip. I will attempt to take my BFF's bus luck with us since I never had to wait when I had her with me. DH's bus luck is strictly to be left at home.

Only 38 days until we leave town for our overnight stay in Dallas before our flight into MCO for 2 nights at Cocoa Beach, a 7 night RCCL Freedom of the Seas cruise to St. Thomas and St. Marteen, and 7 nights at POR!!! It will have been 2.5 years since my DH had a real vacation and we are so excited.
