Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter?!

POFQ is very compact and has a brand new food court with some adventurous New Orleans style options. Their pool and splash area are good. My daughter loved the dragon slide. Everything is close by because it is so small.

Riverside is more spread out, but has more rooms, more pools, and has both a table service (dinner) and quick service restaurant. The only drawback for me is the extra walking.
Theming is beautiful at both.

We just got back from our first stay at POR. The place is absolutely beautiful, but the size and walking required is it's downside. We were in the Magnolia Bend section with royal rooms in the Parterre building, and actually found ourselves walking to French Quarter more than POR. It feels like we spent more time walking to the bus stops and riding the busses then we did at any theme park.

What we liked better about POR over FQ: The main pool, the quiet pools, the landscaping, the theming, the room decor, the food court choices.

What we liked better about FQ over POR: The compact size and how easy it is to get from one place to another, the buses, the boat to DS (much less time than POR), Coke freestyle machines in the food court, Beignets (the only place to get them), the kids splash pad (my son loved it).

We definitely prefer Riverside. Ever since my kids passed age 6, they preferred the larger main pool and the food court. There's more of a hustle-bustle there as opposed to the quiet of FQ. We enjoy the resort layout and theming and love Oak Manor or Parterre Place because we can enjoy the walk to the pool/food court.

We prefer POFQ. It's a smaller resort, so it doesn't take long to get anywhere. We also like that it only has one bus stop. The pool is good too, although you can use the pool at both resorts, so that's not a huge factor. We also like the food court better at POFQ.

If youre like me and like strolling around the grounds esp in the morning with a coffee, POR. Some people don't like walking, so they like POFQ.

For me, the size of POR is part of why I love it. And in my opinion, its really not that big that sometimes they make it sound. But, walking from here to there is nothing to me, esp. a place so beautiful. I found the short walk around POFQ to be boring. The center area is beautiful at POR too.

I want to experience BOTH but so far, POFQ was magical and full of pixie dust for my family! I think on 2nd Trip I will make some time to stormtrooper-march ---Ah I mean mosey on over!!! to POR and see what it's all about! ;)

POR for me. I love the lush grounds, I like the look of the outside of the buildings better and I don't really find even the farthest building that far. POFQ looks more like a motel to me on the outside and seems little more gaudy in it's theming.

This is how I feel as well, I don't like how compact POFQ is, and prefer the layout of POR. I also like that POR has multiple bus stops, so that I can choose to get out at the main depot if I want to stop at the front desk or the food court, or I can ride the bus to a stop that is closer to my room. If you don't like walking, or prefer a single bus stop for the entire resort, then POFQ may be a better fit.

POFQ is compact but still lovely-themed and very convenient. I really dislike how spread out Riverside is. You have a chance to be pretty far from your bus stop, even though there are multiple stops. The main pool is pretty and the quiet pools are nice, but it's just too much walking to get from here to there.

Who's in your party? How many? Ages? Likes? Dislikes?
More info will help us to help you.
my 8 year old daughter and i. it will be our 2nd time visiting. we stayed at Caribbean beach 2 years ago and loved it! she is not into princesses! lol

Port Orleans or French Quarter...Pros and cons please? i can't decide!
Just stayed at POR, usually stay at POFQ. We like POFQ the best; smaller resort, one bus stop, better QS choices (food and drink both) enjoy the theming more
That being said, I expected the buses at POR to be bad but they were not. We only waited once for a bus more than 20 minutes, most times one arrived within 10 minutes and it was not full. We paid for a preferred room there - I don't know if I would have liked it as much if we were very far from the main pool and food court.
I found the food court at POR to always be extremely crowded with people (and I don't think we were there at the most popular times) but my kids loved the slide at POR
My son got poison ivy walking back from the main pool at POR to our room at night- so not a fan of the extra greenery there (& im sure he wasn't being careful or didn't see it b/c it was dark!)
POR has lovely horse & carriage rides that I wish we had time to try
POFQ also has the evening movies & marshmallow roasting ( I think POR had that too)
At POFQ they have laundry facilities right by the main pool so able to swim while running them
POR has that too but in different locations by quiet pools (I literally got lost at night- dropped off laundry at one building very far from room, mistakenly went back to closer building & had a brief scare- needless to say, things look the same at night- was too big for me:)
They are both nice but for us POFQ has the edge
