Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter Room Request Fax Thread

Thank you, thank you, thank you Venom for all your advice on this thread. I must have written a pretty decent request based on your advice, because we did get some major pixie dust. : ) you were right about that pixie dust fairie I guess. : ) This was much appreciated when my ASD boy was melting down as soon as we got checked in and to our room. (Not that he didn't live the room, I think the anxiety of flying and been too much for him) And i appreciated everything once again this evening coming back from fireworks carrying 2 of our 3 sleeping children!

Yes the Pixie Dust Fairy does lurk around. Glad you got all you wanted and more. Glad you had a Magical first day!

Hi Venonhatch and Andre

I originally posted this in the PortOrleans.org Discussion forum before I realised there is a specific Request Fax thread in the DIS forum, so I apologise in advance for reposting but thought this forum maybe more relevant.

I have been reading your helpful information for the past year and now it's only 12 days till we arrive so I'm hoping for some input into the room request wording I have put together as below which I based on the fax template. I really want to get across the location we prefer for our King room reservation.

Hello and wishing you a very good day.
My husband and I are visiting Walt Disney World staying at your Port Orleans Riverside resort from Thursday 28th November until Friday 6th December.

We would really be grateful if you could possibly accommodate a few simple requests as we will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and we want to make our stay and anniversary as magical as possible.

We have paid for a King Room and we would love our room to be located on a top floor as we are very light sleepers, that way we won’t be disturbed by noise from guests in the rooms above us.

It would also make our stay a really magical experience if our room could be located in a Mansions Building with a river view and close to Ol’ Man River bridge.

The Magnolia Terrace building in the front section of the wings on the 2nd floor, for example Rooms 8774, 8773, 8771, 8742, 8740 or 8739 would be a perfect fit if we were lucky enough to receive a little bit of pixie dust as there are no rooms located above the 2nd floor ‘H’ wing section of the building so we would not be disturbed from occupants above.

Another choice would be the top (3rd) floor of Arcadian House, for example Rooms 8416 or 8420 as that location would also provide a magical experience for us.

We understand that these are just requests but if you can help us out we would be ever so grateful.

We are arriving this week and would greatly appreciate any assistance and pixie dust you can provide in making our 25th wedding anniversary vacation to your resort that little bit more magical and enjoyable.

Paid for King Room
• Mansions Building with river view
• 2nd floor wing room Magnolia Terrace, or 3rd floor central room Arcadian House please,
as we are very light sleepers and would be woken with noise from occupants in a room above.

Looks great!

So happy! We just checked into POR and got our requests! We had booked a king bed room and I asked for a Riverview, Magnolia Terrace if possible and we got it! Thank You Venom for your help!

Looks great!

thanks Venomhatch,

As we arrive on during the busy thanksgiving period, Friday 29th (and not the 28th as per my fax draft, which I have changed)

Should I fax the request on the morning of Monday 25th or on Sunday 24th ?? Not sure if Room Assignment works on a Sunday or not and don't want the fax to be sitting there for 24 hours before someone see it.

We have a 4 year old and have paid for a royal room with garden view, my question is where should I request to stay? This will be our first time at POR

Glad I could be of help for your magic!

I would do it on Monday. Better chances of finding the right people.

Its all on the time of day you check in. I showed up in the morning around 9:30 am so there wasn't that much of a line then.
Happily there was no line for regular check-in when I arrived. Even, better, I got an upgrade from garden view to pool view, which I didn't even ask, for to get me closer to where I wanted to be! Thanks again for all your help.

My birthday is tomorrow and since I've always considered my birthday to last at least a week, I got a birthday button yesterday. I got a cupcake with a candle at Crystal Palace yesterday and a free chocolate cake from the CM behind the counter at the MK (can't remember the name of the CS place I ate) when she saw the button. Plus tons of "Happy Birthdays" from cast members and guests.

What a great place!

Oh, and for those of you who haven't been to Riverside before, don't miss Bob in the River Roost Lounge Wednesday to Saturday nights. There is no one like Bob anywhere else!

Thanks Dansdad and Venomhatch for responding. I thought my TA had gotten misinformed after reading your posts. I am going to ask her to call again but also just take the better approach of using Venom's fax request form. We check in on Nov 30th so what is the best day to fax our room request...don't want to do it too far in advance or too late. Thanks so much for the help. I love reading all your posts on this thread and the other PO thread. It has been so helpful planning our first trip. My kids still don't know about the trip...can't wait to spill the beans.

Sent my fax request in this morning, we arrive on Friday. I recall seeing 3-5 days before is acceptable on the thread somewhere, so hopefully this isn't too late to get a little pixie dust.

Just got back from a stay at CSR. Booked a standard king room. Over the summer, I called and added the request "high floor in Casitas, corner if possible" to my reservation. We did online check-in where I reiterated most of my request. Seven days before our check-in, I faxed them the same request using the fax template in this thread.

I checked in around 4pm and the CM re-read my request from the computer so it was definitely notated in their system. Unfortunately, they were not able to meet my request for Casitas or high floor. The CM explained a convention was there and occupying most of Casitas, and almost all of their king rooms. We were put in a ground floor room in Cabanas. The CM said "but it IS a corner room". He graciously called to see if a king room in Cabanas was available on a higher floor but they said no. We got to the room and the location was ok. The room was on a corner but not what I expected... I asked for a corner room to have an extra set of windows, and this room did not have that. Just the normal window.

The room location ended up being ok but if I ever stay at CSR again in the future, I will book preferred to be guaranteed Casitas. The bus stop near Casitas is first to be picked up and first to be dropped off which was a big advantage, especially since the bus stop closest to us was the last for everything.

I wouldn't hesitate to fax my request again though - it certainly can't hurt and they definitely tried. So thanks for your help!

I've typed up my fax request letter. I would really appreciate if someone would look at this letter. I'm afraid that it is too long and that I've made too many requests!

Hello! I hope you are having a magical day!

On December 12-18, my family and I will be visiting Walt Disney World at the beautiful Port Orleans Riverside resort. We last stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in December 2007 and loved it! We are very excited to be back, especially since we’ll be celebrating my birthday, which is December 19th! We are also celebrating the fact that my son has been in casts on both feet since November 6th and they will finally come off the night before our trip! We cannot wait to be back “home” where even my 13 year old daughter feels like royalty!!
We would very grateful if you could possibly accommodate a few requests. First, we would ask for a ground floor room in a building as close as possible to the food court. My son is in a wheelchair and we find the ground floor rooms so convenient, especially after long days at the parks! We have a paid for a Garden View Room as part of our reservation, but are not as concerned with the view as we are with a ground floor room close to the main building.
Next, we are traveling with my sisters and would also like to have a room close to them if at all possible. Their names are P**** and P***** B***** and their confirmation number is ********. Adjoining or connecting rooms are unnecessary. We’d just like to be near to them.
Lastly, my son does not urinate on his own and as such, we must cathe him every four hours. Our flight is due to arrive at 8:20 am on December 12th. It would make meeting my son’s needs much easier if our room was ready upon arrival. I know that rooms are not guaranteed to be ready until check-in at 3pm and so we understand completely if this request is unable to be met. For us, the first two requests are more important as we can use a public restroom if necessary.
It would be very magical to receive any pixie dust if at all possible. It would be a most magical experience if the staff at Port Orleans Riverside could achieve that for us. We understand that these are requests but if you can help us out to the best of your abilities we would extremely grateful. We will be arriving at your resort very soon, and would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide in making our wonderful vacation more enjoyable and magical.
Thank you so much for considering my requests. We can’t wait to be back “home”!
*Paid for Garden View
*Requesting ground floor that is close to main building, near my sisters, and ready AM of 12/12

Thank you so much!!!

Just my opinion, but yes I do think it is a bit long and 'rambling'. I would suggest making it briefer and more to the point - for example, you could pretty much delete the whole of the following paragraph as it basically just says at least four separate times how magical you think your vacation will be, and you have already said earlier that you know requests are not guaranteed. Once is probably enough.

So overall, I would suggest tightening it up and make it about half the length it is now.

Sorry I some how stopped getting notifications. Thank you Andre for stepping in.

I check in on 12/12. I read on the first page that 7-10 days is when to fax. This is ten days, but I don't want to be too early. Is today okay to fax?

Thanks for all the help!

Any time in the next couple days will be fine. Don't worry.

Yes, What dansdad said, But I would not wait to 5 days. You have to give us ample time to see if we can accommodate the requests.

Is there a best time to fax?? Is the morning better? Afternoon? We are arriving this Sunday and I haven't faxed yet. Any suggestions are appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!!
