Port Orleans guests use SSR fitness center free?

That's what I read recently from All Ears. Now, I know that Disney owns a small percentage for the DVC resorts. But this really doesn't sit well with me in light of the recent "pay to play" answer from DVC regarding the formerly-free valet. I mean, who pays for increased usage of the machines, and thus more frequent need for replacement, towel washing, etc. I just can't understand this, please explain why it's OK (if it is).

We had a thread on that same topic about 2 weeks ago and I don't think there was a resolution on whether that was correct/right or not. It also stemmed from the allears information. Maybe try a search on some of the keywords and it might pop up. But it might have been on the Resorts board, I can't remember.

I couldn't find anything on the Disney website except on Mom's Panel. Here's what they said:

We will be staying at POR and ASMusic in Aug. 09. I know there are no health clubs at these resorts, but my DH is wondering if he can have access to any gym facilities on Disney property. Thanks for your help!

Hello Danielle - good news! Your husband will be able to use any of the Disney owned health club facilities for a nominal fee.

The nearest resorts with facilities to your resorts are:

ºoº All Star Music: Animal Kingdom Lodge, Coronado Springs
ºoº Port Orleans: Saratoga Springs Resorts, Old Key West

You may want to call the resorts directly as you get closer to August 2009 for current pricing.

So it looks like if you are staying on property you can use other Disney Health facilities if you pay.

Aha, thanks! I haven't seen it confirmed, hadn't thought of that. I kind of hope it's not true, like I said, especially in light of DVC's recent "pay to play" stand on free valet.
