So I'm am a DVC Marriott snob. Used to love my Hiltons but the Diamond program took a huge dive lately. I usually REFUSE to stay at "motel" style resorts anywhere.

I have been a DVC member since 2006, I have over a lot of points.

I stayed at the Caribbean Beach ONCE, it was the reason I bought DVC. I hated the motel feeling so badly...

So yea I'm spoiled and OK with it.

My girlfriend and I spare a birthday, We recently took each other to Disney for our birthday. It was a last minute trip and I tried to wait list at RR, BWV. When not staying at a DVC resort my goto has been the Swan and Dolphin, however, the Swan and Dolphin were on blackout for points. (I spend about 60 nights a year in Marriott properties so I have lots of points) As a back up plan I book a room at the French quarter. Conveniently, the waitlist expires before we had to confirm the room at the French Quarter, so at least one department at Disney is thinking.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the French Quarter.

First, we got a corner room on the first floor. This turned out to be a really big bonus. It was a king room, the room was laid out well and really a perfect size for a "relaxing" 60 hour stay.

We did check in at about 10am. We had a room by 1pm. The resort was not full the night before but the King rooms were.

The quick service food in the main building was good for breakfast. The little "Lounge" was "MEH" at best. The pool was ok, the pool lounge was fine. The hot tube needed to be run a couple times to get the water warm and all the leaves out.

One bus trip (to animal kingdom) was a PITA, we had to go to all the River Side bus stops. Between the wait and the ride it took an hour to get to the park.
All other days the buses went direct to the parks. Very little wait.

The boat to the Springs was nice also, wait time was fine. The boat ride was ok. The springs only had one boat stop open, I think because of the Covid temperature check point. But it was still ok. It would have been nice to be able to go direct to the Eastside, because that is where we were having dinner.

The best part of this resort............. The price. The room was less than $400 a night with tax and fees. I started Looking at the French Quarter because it was less money than the Swan. The Swan was 450 ish plus fees, for the same nights.

We go get a way long week end often and the French Quarter has been added to our list..... Well behind BLT, RR, SSR, The Swan.... but it was really good.

So you paid $400 a night for a motel - which you seem to hate .... was pleasantly surprised even though you didn't seem happy with much of your experience. :confused3

Personally if I paid $200 for French Quarter I paid way too much. For $400 I'd be at the Hilton Signia or JW Marriott Bonnet Creek, true deluxe hotels, right by property, tons of amenities and also providing shuttles. I guess the plus side is it keeps Disney hotels full making huge profits. Good for Disney and stockholders.

The Swan was $600 per night. The Dolphin was about the same. The reserve wasn't open yet, Come to think of it the art of aggravation and the POOP century were also $600 a night. SO I guess what I'm saying are all things are relative. Just so you understand for this 3 day get away I think we happily dropped $6k. I spent more $300 bucks on dinner each night. So $400 dollars for a nice room during the 50th, at the end of Covid when EVERYTHING else is pretty much sold out I though was a good deal.

I also have over a million Hilton points and about the same in Marriott. If I had want to stay "off"property I would have stayed in the LBV Palace (a Hilton and yes technically on property, but its not the same) but for three days I didn't want to deal with it.

Other than one long bus ride and having to wait a few minutes to heat up the hot tub I'm not sure what I said was bad. Trust me I don't seems to hate any thing. If I hate some place I will tell you. There will be no ambiguity. Meh to me is neither bad nor good, I treat Meh like a C and ok as a C+ or B-.

No if I had called some thing a complete S##T Show.... you could give that a D. So when you say "though you didn't seem happy with much of your experience" I don't think you are using the proper experience scale.

Oh in addition to being a DVC member, I'm am also a Disney Stockholder so there is that.

Yes this resort, this price point and the fact that Disney made money are good for me....

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clear that up.

POP Century $600 ............ kinda invalidates it all doesn't it?

I typed it right the first time "POOP"century....

And No I think the fact that a "value reason was $600 a night, and a moderate was $400 demonstrates that the French Quote was a good value.

No need to be rude or sarcastic -- it was your own typo that caused the PP's confusion.

Then you corrected it:
If you are going to quote me please include the next post I made. Where a qualified the statement two and half weeks ago. It is true I didn't see the typo until yesterday. However, again, if you read the entire thread not quote one liners you would see I have already corrected the misunderstand once.
