Port Orleans French Quarter yes or no?

POFQ is awesome! We would not hesitate to stay there again. So far it is our favorite mod. (we have stayed at all but CSR).

Yes, you do share buses with POR most of the time, but if the bus at FQ is totally full, it will bypass POR.

Even though you do have to sit through the stops at POR, it isn't that bad. Most resorts do share buses or have multiple stops anyway.

At POFQ you are first on and off, which makes a big difference. You will at least get a seat and the first bus when you are leaving the resort to go to the parks.

When we stayed at POR we had terrible bus service, and had to stand most of the time, and also wait for another bus to come around, because there was not enough room.

Another fan of POFQ here!:thumbsup2 It's a great resort. Small, beautiful and we found the bus set up to be better than our stay at the BC! We'll be going back to POFQ next month and can't wait!!!

Agreeing with previous posts!

I have stayed at CB, POFQ, and POR. Out of those three I think POFQ is the best for moderates for the following reasons:
1. Smaller than CB and POR. Smaller = quicker walks to pool, food, etc...
2. Busses. Yes busses are shared between POR and POFQ. But when we were there people at POFQ got picked up last (going to the parks) and dropped off first (going to the resort). This meant less time on the bus.
3. Boat to DD - I really liked being able to ride one of the "taxi" boats over to DD. It's a nice little ride!
4. It's pretty!:thumbsup2

You will love this resort. I stayed there 11/06 and enjoyed it for everything that has already been said. I even liked it better than SSR. The buses were fine & crowded only 1 night coming back from Epcot but thats normal. As for bus sharing even the deluxes share such as Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk. So have fun.Next time I go this is where I will stay. :)

I would never make a choice of resorts by bus service. IMHO they are all on an even playing field for that. Also, POFQ has a great jazz player, Eliot Dyson, Wed-Sun at Scat Cats. Be sure to check him out. Oh, and the hot tub is very secluded. While CSR has the largest on property, it is also next to the pool. At POFQ, it on the other side of the bar. There is rarely more than a couple people in it and its normally adults.

My DD and I stayed at POFQ last October we loved the resort so much we are staying again . Only problem we had with buses was after Illuminations at Epcot and we should have known better and had a drink before leaving.
There was always a separate bus at MK and we had no problems there. The only long wait was at DTD.

Are you sure about this? My experiences at POFQ were "first" to be picked up and first to be dropped off.

We LOVE POFQ! We'll be returning for a second trip in Sept! :dance3:
It's a great place to come back and relax! (We had only stayed in All Stars before we made the jump to mods. It was hard to determine if it was worth it, but for us, on a trip that's longer than a few days, it TOTALLY is worth it! The shared bus is really no big deal compared to the All Stars. If there isn't anyone at the stops, they slow to check, and then move on. We LOVE it!

We stayed at POFQ this past October and liked it. I liked that the resort was smaller. Even if you were in the most remote location it still wasn't far to the bus stop or food court. Some of the resorts it can be quite a hike. Most times we had our own bus, when we didn't the bus only made one stop at POR. We were never on a bus that stopped at more than one of the POR bus stops.

Thank you for all your comments and reassurance. Looks like we are going with POFQ. After hearing from you all, my doubts about the resort are gone. I looked into the POP Century but after thinking about it, I found myself really dissappointed we weren't going to POFQ and after some number crunching, even with no discounts (still hoping for the 40% or free dining in Sept) we are able to fit POFQ into our budget. After all it is our 10 yr anniversary and probably the only time me and the DH will get to come to Disney without kids and the value I think is more for families, not to say that POFQ is not, but I am picturing walks at night in the grounds and a drink in the lounge which Values don't have.

to "Skipperkim" where is this Skat Cats you are talking about? My DH loves jazz, is that in POFQ or Riverside?

Thanks again to everyone.

We honeymooned at POFQ last year and we had an absolutely wonderful time. We only found the buses to be an issue one evening, which had nothing to do with the amount of stops/people....it was our driver who was a bit kooky! We loved how close everything was at POFQ, because after a long day in the parks the last thing you want is to have to walk miles to your room. We were in bldg. 5, and our walk to the bus stop was under 2 minutes...of course, all of the buildings are close at this resort. I hope you have a wonderful time!
