We will be arriving next August, for our first DW vacation, and are staying at POFQ. :)
I was wondering, do all of the buildings have elevators to get to the 2nd and 3rd floors, or just stairs?
Do most people find the 3rd floor to be the quietest?
We've booked a "garden view" room. Where exactly would that put us?
What does everyone prefer, ground floor or higher up??

Thanks!!!!

We have stayed on all floors and never noticed much difference regarding noise.
I think garden view might get you a view of a courtyard . All buildings have an elevator

We're looking forward to our first stay at POFQ! :cool1: Thanks for all the great information on this thread.

Here's my question: My DD has a countdown on her iPod, and one of the pictures on it is a gorgeous three-tiered fountain at POFQ. Now, I've told her I don't know which fountain this is, but I said I would put in a request for a room on a courtyard with a fountain view. Any suggestions as to what would be the prettiest area to request?

Is this it?

This one is in the courtyard between buildings 1 and 2. We were in building 2 and the fountain was right across from our window.

We just got back from our first visit to Port Orleans French Quarter. We had a great time, fantastic weather. Our week went by so fast.

I just realized that when I re-booked my trip with the Disney Visa discount code, my room got changed from "water view" to "standard view." I just called and there are no water view rooms available with the discount. Do you think there's any chance I could request it at check-in and be moved to a water view?!?! I'm sad! :sad2:

Thanks Andre for posting this :thumbsup2

Can't wait to enjoy one of the movies and DD always loves the pool games :goodvibes

The campfire is fun too! My son's favorite. We will miss not having a campfire staying at Pop this time. We stumbled across the campfire at POFQ after our carriage ride last month. It was just a few minutes before the end of the campfire and we had it all to ourselves and our friends we did the carriage ride with. It was great!

I thought I read that they do not have elevators at FQ. So do they have elevators????

A couple of questions about the resort activities....so it looks like there are 2 separate locations for the movies each evening?

And what do they do at the campfire?

And does anyone know how much the bike rentals are? If you ride a bike to DTD can you park it there and lock it?? Or can you just ride around the resort?

There are two movies screening locations, one at Riverside (by Oak Manor) and one at French Quarter (lawn between buildings 4/5/6). For more info on all of the recreation facilities at Port Orleans, try www.portorleans.org/recreation.php

You can only ride bikes off-road, so you're restricted to going around the local resort pathways. For current prices see www.portorleans.org/rentals.php

It might be. My picture is at night with the water going, so it makes the fountain look bigger. I'd certainly be happy with a view of that one, though. Thanks!

Honestly, you will probably see more of the fountains as you walk around the property (room to bus or dining or boat or Riverside) than you will from your room. Not too many people actually sit and stare out their windows. :goodvibes Take different routes and you will get to see different things each time.

We just passed the 2 year mark before we visit POFQ! :goodvibes

I keep reading this thread daily and am still learning. Keep it coming!
btw, huge thanks, André!

:tinker:Poussière de fée!

Ahhh, I just found this thread!!!

I can't wait until our upcoming trip, 12/17-12/23. This will be our second time staying at POFQ. I LOVED it the first time and can't wait to go back. I'm excited to see all the renovations!

We have never decorated our door or windows before, but I think it would be something fun this time. Are there any rules about what is allowed? For example, are window clings a big no-no, or allowed? (personally I don't use them in my house bc of the mess cleaning them after).

Thanks!

We'll be staying at POFQ starting Jan 2 - Jan 8th 2012. We are surprising the kids and my dad and not letting them know until New Years Eve that we are leaving the next day for Disney!
Our last trip was our first ever trip to Disney in June 2011 and we stayed at AKL so I'm still a little unsure how we are going to take to a Mod after having our first stay at a deluxe. The pictures are absolutely beautiful though and I'm so excited!

I just stayed there for the first time in October. I loved it. It was so beautiful. The staff was friendly, It was very clean. We never really had to wait for the buses. and taking a boat to DTD was fun!
I hope I can go back there someday

Actually it was last Sat the 29th. Flew home to a nasty snowstorm in Ct, and lost power for 5 days :headache:

Anyhow, FQ was wonderful as usual. My request for first floor was given, altho I was in building 7, a bit far from the food court, but fine for me.

I loved the beds :goodvibes Everything was so perfect, I have no complaints.
