We're checked in online and our room request is in for a refurbed room, preferably building 4! We are so excited! 9 more days! :yay:

Are you able to add a room request when you do online check-in?? I called and added mine to my reservation but I didn't know you could do that when you check-in online!

Booked my ADRs this morning....now it's only a 180 day wait until we're back at POFQ again. Yay!:yay:

There is just one pool at POFQ, the dragon slide one. There are tons of pictures of it over in the Gallery at www.portorleans.org (which I assume is the site you mean?)

Andre

this is our one problem with FQ. we are just 2 adults and like to lie poolside where there aren't always tons of kids.
that huge courtyard between bldgs. 5 and6 would be a good [place for a smaller pool, or they could put one just past the last bldg on the way to POR.

I think I know the answer, but I'm going to ask anyway. Does Tiana or Navien ever make an appearance to the Quater? I would think they would be "right at home" there.

we stayed at FQ shortly after the movie came out and I was surprised and disappointed there was nothinr there for Tiana. I realize the characteres don't have meet and greeta at the resorts, but, gee, New Orleans? Tiana?

still love the resort!!!

I am being absolutely spastic with picking a resort for our October trip! I'm trying to find the best option for our toddler. At first, we were set on CBR... then I had second thoughts due to the size and reports of busing problems. Then I considered POP, but my mom refuses to stay in a value. Then I thought about CSR, my brother's first pick, but I just cannot get into the theme-ing & it's also a large resort.

So I'm brought back to POFQ. DH & I had our honeymoon there in '02 and loved it! My brother doesn't want to go back because we stayed in '93 and he wants to try something new. Understandable... I like mixing things up too. But the resort is so nice & compact, the transportation is at least fairly reliable, and the boat to DTD is awesome.

I'm trying to win him over with the refurbed rooms and queen beds. That's the main reason he wanted CSR. Fingers crossed I get my way! I promised to buy him as many biegnets as he wants. ;)

Just back. I had a refurb room, partially disabled (higher commode, more hand rails, extra moving room). We absolutely loved the resort. So much that frugal DH said this is his "new" home. I have lots of pictures and will write some notes in the next few days. I was hurt during our trip so it may take me longer to get it done, but I promise I will. Individual comments I will try to answer as soon as possible.

I have to say though, this resort had the best bus service I have ever experienced in many, many years, and we did NOT share with POR. Even with the bad experience with the injury, I would love to be there right now!:lovestruc

Help I'm always so indecisive! DD17 hated ASMovies rooms. She said the rooms were nasty, but I didn't have a problem with them. Right now I have POR-newly rennovated room requested, booked for Christmas. I'm thinking of switching to POFQ to ensure a rennovated room (DD is a resort snob). I have never been to either. Should I switch? :confused3

Sorry if this was asked, I did try to look through all the threads quickly so I may have missed this.

Can you request a refurbished room if you book a standard room (not preferred water or river view).? I'm not really interested in a view, but would love a newer room.

Thanks :) Deb

Yes you can. We were in a standard room, totally standard area and it was all refurbed. When we left over 1/2 of the rooms were refurb, so as the days go by your chances get higher and higher for a reburb room. Have a great trip!

If POFQ is available, I'd make the switch right now! :thumbsup2 If you change your mind later, it's always easier to get a room at POR than at FQ so grab FQ while you can!! ;)

Not necessarily, and especially not around Christmas time, since resorts are really booked up.

To add to it, POR is going to go through a refurb next and they will most likely do a building at a time, which means there will be less rooms available to begin with.

OK, then forget what I said! It's just been my experience over the last 10 years. :flower3:

Will be staying at POFQ for a third year in a row. :yay: My other half (boyfriend of 14 yrs) would like to stay at Poly, but I just can't give up POFQ. I love it there.

Our friends just stayed there last week (due to my recommendation) and loved it! They even got picked for Family of the Week at the resort. I have other friends staying in May because I talked it up sooooooooo much!

I love that we can sneak out the back stairs and walk a few feet for the bus. We've even stayed in the same room. Will be requesting the same room again this year!

You just can't go wrong w/ this resort!

DIS Unplugged has a review of POFQ from their trip, early Jan 2011. You can listen to it from the DIS main oage - scroll down to 2/16/11 - Port Orleans French Quarter.

So far they did not like their room (said it was very dirty and shower had a problem), check-in process(over 25 minutes long), the staff and management at POFQ were rude and did not pay attention to the guests.

They did not really like the POFQ food court - but they did like the pastries at the food court. DIS said the POFQ went down hill in 2011.

But - it may have been a bad couple of days when they went.

Have others had the same complaints and experiences that the DIS crew had ?
