Loving the refurb. This is my favorite mod - not sure when I will make it back now that we are owners. :)

Can anyone tell me how much the fountain sodas / lemonades are if you just buy one at at Sassagoula, without a refillable mug? I'm trying to determine if the mugs are a good idea for anyone in my group or not. I thought it might be for me (6 mornings of coffee, plus probably at least one soda type beverage in the afternoon), but then I remembered there is a coffee maker in the room.

I didn't know if WDW drink prices were like movie prices...$3 for 8 oz. or something equally ridiculous. Thanks!

I think back in 2009, a bottled coke was 2.00 maybe 2.50 and it seems like a fountain drink was about the same. I'm sure that someone who's been there more recently will have a more exact price.

Not quite Movie Theatre prices, but still expensive. Oddly enough I don't have the single cup prices on my website, but the bottled drinks are prices like Fanta & Iced Tea $2.39, Powerade $2.89, Apple/Orange Juice $2.59, Vitamin Water $3.25.

LONG story short I had booked a June trip to the Yacht Club and found out last week I won a Disney Triple A contest for a week at a Mod, dining plan and park hoppers for a week! How could I NOT switch my June trip to August? Which was the only time period in the contest that worked with DD's school.

So we are going to enjoy POFQ on the front end of our Disney trip a nd stay at YC for a few nights on the back end of our trip b/c we love Storm Along Bay....THAT being explained - have not stayed at POFQ in 15 years maybe? Recommendations on room request? Just any info would be helpful. I AM THRILLED it is a free trip but I know every nook and cranny of the YC and just can't get that "i love my resort" feeling going right now...THank you! I remember being able to take a boat to DTD but how about Counter Service or activities to do at the resort?

We love the size of POFQ. It has such as cozy feel. It is great for getting around with kids. There is a boat to DTD that takes about 15-20 minutes. The counter service is not bad. It's not my favorite, but there are a lot more options than some of the Deluxe counterservices so that is a plus. There is no table service restaurant but POR is not far to walk to to get to. We love that on a busy day when we are tired, we can just walk quickly back to our room. The pool area is a fun theme. My kids love the serpent slide. I think that you just have to go with the attitude that with a couple of free days, it might be a good way to explore somewhere new. It's hard when you are used to something else, but I am sure you can make the best of it.

I have been to Disney many times over the years and one thing I have learned is the best trips are the least expected trips. I remember being SOOOO excited to take DD to Animal Kingom Lodge for a week and DH and I HATED the place. Just not us. I know others love it we did not...And it was a trip I just knew would be awesome and just didnt turn out that way.....I have no doubt POFQ is lovely and I will have a super time. I could get someone excited about YC/BC in a matter of 2 minutes and just hoping to get some of the same enthusiam for the resort from this board. But good grief a free trip is a DREAM come true but my mind was sooo wrapped up in my June planning and JUNE thinking now it is like starting alllll over with new timeframes and a new resort. But it will get there, it always does...Thanks for the tip on dining!

Also found the neat site that someone created about POR - very informative! Any pictures of the pools at POFQ?Is there a quiet pool or just one big pool on this side? I can't find a picture...I remember from 15 years ago a pool somewhere inthis complex had like a dragon's mouth you slid out of but maybe that is long gone or over on the other side at POR?

Love that page dedicated to POR/FQ. I know I already said that! But I had to smile that this resort is considered small at 1k rooms???? (POFQ)...Seems pretty big to me but must be laid out not to feel as large...Thanks so much everyone.

We're arriving 1 week from today! We've never stayed at POFQ but it appealed to me the most out of all the Mod's due to it's compact size. hoping for a reburb'ed room...looks like I've got a 50/50 chance at it. I'll be checking in when a lot of Prez week visitors will be checking OUT so hopefully it all works out. Either way, I'll be at DISNEY so it's all good :thumbsup2

Me too, hoping for a refrb room. We will be there 4/1-4/9, and would love to exp a refrub room. Do we have any idea if they switched out the pillows, perhaps softer pillows?

Thank you! That is what I was wondering. Allears doesn't have the fountain drink prices listed either.

There is just one pool at POFQ, the dragon slide one. There are tons of pictures of it over in the Gallery at www.portorleans.org (which I assume is the site you mean?)

Welcome to the POFQ thread. I responded to your original post when you asked which resort to choose. I'm glad to see you are choosing POFQ.

I think the thing I like the best about POFQ is that as soon as you pull into the parking lot, you feel peaceful. A contented "Ah" as you park your car (we drive). And that peace just seems to pervade POFQ. This is simply a relaxing resort. The landscaping is beautiful, the grounds are well-maintained. As others have said, the food court isn't the biggest, but the selection is adequate. A short walk or boat ride takes you to POR where you can get a table service meal as well as shop in their bigger store or swim in one of their pools. The stroll along the Sassagoula is very nice and you might get to see some wildlife (we've seen otters, they are quite entertaining to watch).

I can't get my husband to even consider a different resort. He says POFQ is home and there's no place like home.

I've decided that the mugs are not a worthwhile investment for us. I think I used mine four times in ten days. We bought "real" coffee in the parks and drank bottled water most of the time.

I think I know the answer, but I'm going to ask anyway. Does Tiana or Navien ever make an appearance to the Quater? I would think they would be "right at home" there.

Do POFQ rooms have separate shampoo and conditioner or that awful combination stuff?
Trying to get by with only a carry on!
Thanks.

Well if they do, they do it incognito so their royal highnesses don't get mobbed by the masses. :)

Sorry, it's the combined shampoo/conditioner.

I am not sure if this is the right place for all the reasons we have fallen in love with a moderate resort.. but here is my list of why we :lovestruc love POFQ:

POFQ :joker: the best of the best

The carriage ride around POR and POFQ right at dusk

Get beignets at the POFQ food court!

You should go to eat over at POR Food Court "Rivermill" you will be surprised at all the variety and quality of the food choices at POR. The "Rivermill" has a cool decor which has the Giant Water wheel gears.

Use POFQ’s pool and spend a little time at the POR’s Main Pool

You can rent bikes at POR and ride them around both resorts. Also rent boats at the POR marina and tour the Sassagoula River.

Dedicated bus that stops at POFQ first (before POR) and drops off at POFQ first.

POFQ quietness, small size and less people.

Boat to DTD – very nice and relaxing ride.

POFQ is the easiest of resorts to walk around it was so New Orleans.

White noise old-style individual A/C units under the window.

314 sq ft room with double sinks, 2 queen beds, a peg rack to hang things, 4 large drawers, flat screen TV and refrigerator.
