Glad you like it! We felt as if we were a little too far off the edge of the resort there, but it is certainly a pretty location! It'll be interesting to see if any of the rooms will be themed.

That is a cute dog in your avatar! :goodvibes

Thank you! That is Gracie - she is 17 yrs young, 4.8 lbs and a puppymill survivor. She spent 13 yrs in a puppymill as a breeder in conditions so deplorable one cannot even begin to imagine. She came to us at 13 and now lives a life of pure luxury. We are blessed!

I do know what you mean about Parterre Place - if I could not be in a river view room, would not want to be there at all. Actually, I feel that way about all the Mansion bldgs - unless a river view. I find the bldgs like a maze and so confusing. I even have a natural sense of direction and never get lost - EXCEPT in a POR Mansion!! :rotfl:

Totally freeking out now!! I just listened to the DisUnplugged review of POFQ. OMG!! This will be our 1st WDW trip and I want to have a great time. I don't want to be afraid to go back to my hotel for fear of "suprises" or to be greeted by strange hairs and dirt and no bath products.

As anyone been this year and can offer reviews?

Please don't freak out! The thing to remember is reports of dirty rooms are the exception and not the norm! You are waaaay more likely to get a room that is clean than one that is dirty.

I have stayed at POFQ 3 times, the last stay being April 2010. I have nothing but good things to say about POFQ, from the cleanliness of the rooms to the kindness of the CMs.

I can't guarantee you will get a clean room. But the odds are in your favor. Relax and have a great trip!:)

Just got back from POFQ 2 weeks ago no complaints with anything.:goodvibes

Try to think positive! We did have an extremely dirty room at FQ and POP, but both times we simply went down to the front desk (calls to the front desk from the room actually go to a call center, so always better to go in person). We explained the condition of the room and said we would like another room. Or you could call housekeeping and ask for a manager, if one is not available ask to speak with an assistant manager (always nice and calm ;)) and explain the room condition and that you would like the room thoroughly cleaned, including fresh bed lines.

Personally, I'd try for a room change first. Do be willing to wait until another room is ready. Everything will be fine!:goodvibes

Remember, dirty rooms happen at every resort/hotel anywhere, not just Disneyworld. Just be positive and know this will get resolved and you will have a fabulous visit!!! :goodvibes

I had the same issue with the room not being cleaned at AS Movies so where as they had a good experience at All Stars, we did not! I called the front desk who said they would have a mousekeeper sent up but I just asked for another room which I was given without question. I wouldn't be worried, it happens at all the resorts! I'm not picky when it comes to food so I don't think the food court will bother me, plus I'd rather eat at the parks as much as possible anyways and bring breakfast food to save a few extra bucks. It's nice that you have a fridge in the room!

I listened to that too, and boy did they seem to have a bad experience! As Pete said though, their reviews are just a snapshot of one visit which in this case seemed to go very, very wrong. Management needed to step in and didn't.

However if this resort was like that all of the time, Disney would have had far too many issues to ignore it!

The odd thing is that they stayed in one of the building 7 rooms, which were all completely gutted, renovated and fully redecorated just a couple of months ago, yet Pete spoke of levels of general dirt which would appear to be completely unnacceptable and showed months of neglect.

I do hope the resort gets to hear about this and investigate though, as usually they seem to have very good levels of guest satisfaction there.

We had booked at CBR for a second time, but with everyone on DIS boasting about POFQ, we decided to give it a try!!! we are excited for it, and the refurbs!

Re the cleaning, again, I will say that it happens everywhere. IF this happens, you need to make sure management take it seriously. if not, keep fighting.

the refurbs are said to be done in April 2011.... is this the beginning or end? with only a few buildings left, what is everyone thinking?

Being in the construction business, I would err on the side of caution and figure the end of April. If it is open earlier than that, I would be surprised. When they get to the inner buildings, the walks with materials in much farther and takes much longer.

We were there in Nov. 2010 and had no problems with cleanliness.

We just returned from French Quarter, staying in newly re-done building 4. The following buildings are being refurbished now: 5, then 3,2 and 1. Not sure about the others. Our room was immaculate. They are totally gutting the rooms...new sculpted carpeting, fixtures, threshholds, everything.

I will say that that our room was the finest moderate room I've stayed at and we've stayed at them all, many times. The tile is all new in the bathroom, ... I mean... everything is new. Wonderful.

I actually looked for a flaw in the room...I think the paint was still fresh to be honest.

If you are staying at FQ... request building 4 or 5 this spring..and you'll be getting a new room. You will not be disappointed.

Food court hasn't changed tho..still not great although not crowded. Check-in for online check-in went too slow. We had to eventually move to a regular check-in line and then things moved along. Staffing was low in the registration desk when we checked in.

Boat service was great. On time, moved quickly.

Loved POFQ before refurbishment; Now I REALLY LOVE POFQ!!! :thumbsup2

The only thing that wasn't new was the ironing board & cover!! (oh, and the safe was the same old one) ;)

We were there in Nov 2010 too and we did :(

When we went in person to express our concern, they advised there were no King rooms left, but were able to move us to Coronado Springs or Riverside. The first lady I went to was not friendly, but the people she passed me off to were :) They took excellent care of the situation and while I was waiting, one of the cast members brought me out fabric samples for the refurb. They were very nice. I'm sure after the refurb things will look up a bit :) We may try again in the future.

We moved to Coronado Springs and arrived to an immaculate room and an amazing stay. It will be hard for another moderate to top it.

POFQ is my favorite moderate. That being said, when we stayed there in May, I thought our room could have used a little extra cleaning. I am totally NOT a neat freak. But, the baseboards seemed to have a LOT of dust. The corners, under trash cans, etc. didn't look like they had been vaccumed (small pieces of paper in the corner, under bed, etc.). It wasn't enough to complain about or want to change rooms for, but it looked like it had been a LONG time since there had been a good cleaning to the room.

I will stay there again b/c I love the resort. But, I was a little disappointed....

Initially made our reservation for POFQ. Love the landscape, the boats, the beignets, and the jazz at night. After the DISUnplugged report, we had a family meeting and really wanted guaranteed queen beds for next week and CSR is the place! In addition, until some of the other issues there are addressed, we will be waiting for the next report!!

Have fun everyone and love those pics.:goodvibes:goodvibes

As the rooms are being refurbed, they are installing queen beds (just the headboard remains the same).

Thanks for the great photos.

How big is the safe? Would it hold an iPad or a 15" laptop? And with the upgrade is the Internet now wireless?

iPad? Yes.
15" Laptop? Maybe (if it's widescreen).
Internet is still wired I'm afraid, no wi-fi.

Thanks Andre - I might take my iPad then and get an airport or a prepaid wireless card to save on my roaming charges.
