I arrive the Saturday after Thanksgiving at POR. They do whatever they can to get people back to the airport to start checking out from the holiday, to get the extra day at home.

Since 2000, I have NEVER been on the same route and with the same buses once.

Last year, they grouped POR with BW/YC/BC, but we were the first stop.

Two years ago, it was OKW/SSR/POFQ/POR.

The years before it has been totally different.

I really wouldn't sweat it about planning exactly what stops and who will be first. Expect to be at your resort about 70 - 90 minutes after you deboard your plane.

Thank you! :thumbsup2 Just curious, that's all - we'll go for the thrill and see which resorts are in the rotation that day! lol :rotfl:

Wow! I am excited about this refurb! We stayed here in '09 & are planning '12 right now. Might just do POFQ again now!:goodvibes

How are the new pillows with the refurb?

Are they like typical hotel pillows that you have to stack two on top of each other to equal one normal pillow?:laughing:

We didn't like the pillows at all... one of the only bad things we have to say about the entire place. They were cheap and so stuffed, that there was little movement in them. I couldn't get comfortable on them all week...

Iwould like to know about pillows as well...also what about comforters...I assuming these are not fluffy comforters you find in other hotels...LOL

pillows... see above post.

comforter... not fluffy at all. but we always take those off during our stay anyways.

Another thing that we did... my 5 year old was on the side of the bed, closest to the bathroom. We put our empty luggage between the bed and wall, and put the comforters folded up on top, so that he wouldn't fall off. worked GREAT! :thumbsup2

Thanks to all of your for your recent pics...I am so excited to be going back to the POFQ! Especially since it is newly remodeled...the last time we were there was June 09 and the rooms were pretty shabby

Just 38 more days...but whose counting?:rolleyes1

Me, me, me! Just 17 more days for us!::rotfl::banana::cool1:then when we get back, it's another 138 days until my next trip. Not that I'm counting the days until the Sept trip though:rolleyes1 (at least not until the April 30th-May 8th trip is over anyway).:rotfl: Like you, when we were at POFQ May '09 the rooms were really looking shabby, so we're looking forward to the new rehabbed rooms.

Definitely counting here....3 more weeks!

Thanks for all the updates, this is a great thread!

Hey! - that's uncanny - we are there (from the UK) in 18 days (1st May) and visiting again in September too! - though the September trip (also 14 nights) is a villa holiday and not POFQ:thumbsup2

I know there are basic provisions, I enjoy walking/hiking as a hobby. Is there a supermarket within walking distance of the POFQ resort? - by walking distance, I mean a couple of miles as have to take into consideration the heat lol.

If you get the boat or bus to Downtown Disney, the Crossroads mall is about a mile's walk away, and there is a Goodings supermarket there. Hopefully it's still there anyway - the company was in trouble but this store seemed to get through it.

I'm pretty sure it's still opened. We ate at TGI Fridays at Cross Roads last week and the lot was full, signs still up, but I did not notice anyone coming in or out. Guess I'll have to take notice next time are at Cross Roads.

The only change I noticed there, was that Fudruckers was moved. It's now closer to TGI Fridays.

We are staying at POR and think we might take a walk over to Goodings also. This will be our first trip so I'm getting prepared.

Hope the map helps judge where it is :)

I apologize if this is a dumb question... do the windows in the rooms open?

Thanks!

Thanks!

All the Disney resorts are "climate controlled", so windows do not open. It ensures that the units remain as energy efficient as possible.

The only thing you can open is in the deluxes, if you have a sliding patio door.

Can't enlarge that unfortunately. Any idea of the nearest Publix or Walmart? - will have use of a car for part of the trip.

I'm sure I just answered that, but maybe on a different thread (or even board!). I get confused easily. :confused3

The nearest WalMart for Port Orleans is on the SR535 (Vineland Road), about five miles away - and there's a Publix a little further along on the same road (close to the junction with the 192).

However we often use the WalMart on the intersection of John Young Parkway (423) and Sand Lake Road (482) as it's on the way to the Florida Mall.

Check on the WalMart website and use their Store Finder for directions and other store locations - Disney's zip code is 32830.

FD or 30% discount would allow us to upgrade to POFQ - one of my favorite resorts - for our October trip. Come on Disney!!!!!!! I want to wander through the grounds with that subtle jazz serenade, sail to Downtown Disney, have a beignet in the morning.....
