Ok so I know this is comparing apples to oranges but I'm tossing up a 4 night stay at either POFQ or Grand Floridian

Both would be in Studios - at GF it will be one of the resort studios, at POFQ it would be a standard view studio.

What is the bus situation at POFQ. I've never stayed at either resort before, I want to avoid staying at a resort that has multiple stops. Does POFQ share with POR ? Or do they have their own dedicated busses?

Having never been to either resort before, what would you choose? There is around a $400 price difference (total) as I'll be renting DVC with GF but going thru Disney wtih POFQ

There will be times that POR and POFQ will be on one bus, but it is during the slower times of day. We have accidently gotten off at POFQ because we thought our bus was all POR.

But for just a $400 difference, I'd go with GF. We consider POFQ the value of the moderates since it doesn't have the full amenities. That amount is minimal to jump from that to a deluxe.

At $400 total-GF. I Like POFQ but for only $400 to upgrade to a deluxe that is on the monorail, has room service, and extra magic hours - I will take GF all day every day.

I'm soo in the opposite camp--I'd go POFQ. But I'm severely biased against monorail travel.

I'm with you. You couldn't pay me to stay at a monorail resort. We have finished a lot of dinners in those resorts as MK is closing for the night and those lines are just ridiculous. The system was built with just a fraction of the guests on the loop in mind, not for all the expansions and DVC that have been built and it's only getting worse.

One caveat for your proposed GF stay is that you'll be renting points, so it's likely you wouldn't be able to modify the reservation and also likely that if you had to cancel it, you'd be out if not all, then most of the cost.

With POFQ, you'd be booking through WDW, so you'd have total control over the reservation. Also, it's possible that between now and next year a discount for your May 2025 dates would come up and POFQ could end up costing a lot less than GF.

We stay at POFQ a lot and they very rarely share a bus with POR. On the way back to the resort from a park, it's not even an issue, since FQ is always the first stop.

One more bonus of FQ: the boat ride to DS, although we were just there in May and the river was at such a low level that they weren't running the boats. If next year has the same drought situation in FL as this year, then this situation could exist again.

I'm confused... POFQ doesn't have studios the last time I checked? So are you comparing a hotel room to a DVC studio?

The room I’m staying in at GF is the resort studio so it’s more like a hotel room rather than a studio villa

As for the monorail, can’t I walk to GF??

You can walk or boat to MK. Walk is about a mile.

A mile doesn't seem too long until you've walked 15+ miles in-park all day. But hey I'm out of shape so most will probably fare better than I would 😅

Just finished a stay in the resort rooms...there's no question for that price. 100% worth it. And I love PO too but no way it isn't worth $400. And yes you can walk but honestly the monorail wasn't ever so crowded I couldn't get on. And honestly the boat rides are beautiful and if you have the time I'd take those in a heartbeat!

The walk doesn’t bother us
We live walking back to boardwalk after HS and Epcot so I’m sure MK will be fine
