Hi. We're trying to decide if we should buy the Captains Plan (I think thats what its called), where we can use the bikes and boats at the resort all we want, all week for like $240. We really wanted to this trip, but I'm thinking we might be too busy (as usual) since we will be going to theme parks, too. We also wanted to go fishing at the resort. We never have time to just enjoy the resort and our week trips go so fast. I dont know if I should spend the money. and risk wasting it.

Just my opinion, but I would save the Captains Plan for one of the resorts on Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake. The boats would be much more fun there than on the river at POR. I

Mrs. Ambassador and the little delegation have occasionally enjoyed the surrey bikes, but one half-hour spin is all they have attention span for (not to mention the Ambassador's leg strength). We've strolled by the Fishin' Hole, but never been interested in getting worms wet yet. Between the Theme Parks, Pool and Downtown Disney, we hardly have time for anything else.

I'd save the dosh for a fine meal at the California Grill.

We did stay at POR on our last trip and the resort is truly beautiful. Although we stayed 8 days, we didn't do any of the bike riding, fishing, or boat rides that the resort had to offer. My reponse would be it depends on your length of stay and if you think you'll have the time to enjoy it (and get your money's worth of course). Only you will know that. However, as you mentioned you may be too busy (like us, and most people) to really get to do all the "pay for" activities at the resort. You don't want to be stressed that you have to do something because you already paid for it. This is not to say we didn't enjoy the offerings of the resort, because we walked all around the resort taking in the beautiful landscape, etc, enjoyed the pool, piano bar, etc. My opinion is that the $240 could be better spent on other activities on your vacation. If you do have the time to do some of the activities listed, just pay as you go.

Our family loved it last summer. We were there for 12 days and definately got our money worth. Our kids would go and get a bike and ride around. They really loved it. I was concerned about how much fun the mouseboats would be at POR and even thought about going to the POLY to rent them and we ended up being pleasantly surprised!! I do not remember it being that expensive. Have a wonderful trip. POR is beautiful.

I have enjoyed the mouseboats at POR. The water is smooth and it is relaxing. On our 11 day trip, we only did it 1 time as well as only 1 time with the surrey bike(never again)
I would vote on renting seperately depending on your free time.
Have a great trip!

I believe all bike and boat plans have been discontinued
as of a couple of weeks ago.

Just the 1/2 or hourly rentals

discontinued? Well, that makes my decision easier then! LOL
Actually, now my DH is thinking he might want to sqeeze in a trip to NASA now. I dont know how we are going to do all the things we want to do in a week! Wish we could stay longer, but since we just bought annual passes (such a great deal!!!) we plan to go back a couple more times, so maybe we can spend more time at the resort that trip.... actually, we will probably stay at a place closer to Universal next time.
Anyway, thanks for the replies.
