Is there a difference between staying on the Port or Starboard Side of the Ship? If so, which side do you prefer and why?

I don't think there's really a difference, other than the view you get while in port. Most people like to have a view of the Castaway Cay lagoon while the ship is tied up there. For the best chance at this, the starboard side seems to be the consensus, as the ship often back in, but it could still pull in forward depening on tides, wind, and the mood of the captain, so there are no guarantees. In 11 stops at CC for us, we've backed in 8 times, I think.

While the ship's at sea, there's really no difference.

which side faces port at Cape Canavral? I know- what a dumb question! But HEY!!! I've never been on a ship before. I don't think it's starboard...... is that right?

The starboard side faces the terminal when the ship is tied up at PC. When the ship enters the port, it turns around in the turning basin so it is pointed back out of the channel when it ties up.

Trivia from the US Navy website:

"In Old England, the starboard was the steering paddle or rudder, and ships were always steered from the right side on the back of the vessel. Larboard referred to the left side, the side on which the ship was loaded. So how did larboard become port? Shouted over the noise of the wind and the waves, larboard and starboard sounded too much alike. The word port means the opening in the "left" side of the ship from which cargo was unloaded. Sailors eventually started using the term to refer to that side of the ship. Use of the term "port" was officially adopted by the U.S. Navy by General Order, 18 February 1846."
