Someone from another board said that the port does not open until 11am not. Does anyone know if that is true or not? Our PAT time is 10:30 but they said the port times were changed after we had already checked in for our cruise.

Thanks!

It opens right at 10:30am (or did last Saturday). So, no need to get there early.

They may be speaking about the upcoming Southern Caribbean cruises out of Puerto Rico. The San Juan port doesn't open until 11am.

I believe when the Magic or Wonder sail out of Port Canaveral, it does open at 11:00am for those sailings.
The DCL Port Canaveral terminal opens at 10:30am for sailings on the Dream and Fantasy due to the larger number of passengers.

Enjoy your cruise!

We were on the Wonder 3 weeks ago and it opened right at 10:30 am

For the 10:30 (or 11) port opening, is this the time you can start dropping bags and parking in the garage? Or is it for entering the terminal? We've never driven before but have a 10:30 arrival. Should we get there a little earlier to park or does the whole operation start at 10:30?

They might be referring to something I was told yesterday when I booked my car service. The car service said that the Port had a new policy that they could start dropping guest off until 11am.

Not sure why the change but the earliest the service would pick us up is 10am.

The parking/drop off area opens at 10am the terminal opens 10:30. They usually start boarding the ship at 11:15-11:30.

We were on a Magic cruise last year out of PC where the earliest PAT was 11:00. We were traveling from MCO on the DCL bus and arrived there before 10:30. They started letting people who were arriving by non-DCL transportation in at 10:30. We just got back from a cruise on the Wonder and the earliest PAT was 10:30.

But to answer your question, the PC terminal opens at 10:30.

I seem to recall a conversation about this a year or two ago. Evidently, the port has limited when car services can enter.

quite possibly "different rules" for the Passengers personal vehicles to park, vs the cruise lines "branded" shuttles / buses vs. the other shuttle services.

I assume that the cruise lines would want to give preference to their own shuttle services before the "happy limo's" of the world and would pressure the port(s) for that concession. Likewise, the Port wants to encourage parking at the port at a very hefty daily / weekly rate. The 3rd party shuttle services are low man on the "income to the cruise line / port" therefor get the later arrival time (which would mostly benefit the cruise line shuttle services).

In March for the Dream, we arrived at 9:50am and was able to drop bags and park the car. The line began moving around 10:30am. We were on the ship by 11:20am with boarding #2. There was probably 20 people ahead of us in the parking garage line. There wasn't a line for the CC check-in. By the time we checked in, used the bathroom, made some pressed pennies, took the pic with Mickey, and took pics outside...it was time to board!
