Hi. We are suppose to be cruising out of port of Miami. We don’t know if we will be flying into Fort Lauderdale or Miami because southwest flights are not out yet. We just need a one night stay prior to our cruise. Ww prefer a shuttle service if that’s possible

Thanks

When we flew to MIA, we stayed at the Comfort Suites Miami Airport North. It had a free shuttle to the Port.
When we flew to FLL, we stayed at a Marriott Springhill Suites by the airport and used Jiffy Jeff to get to the Port in Miami.

It’s been YEARS - but in the late 70s- early 90s our family always flew down the night before our cruise (since we never booked air through the cruise line - Norwegian Caribbean Line which became Norwegian Cruise Line). Our go to place was the Marriott Biscayne Bay. And even now - it is still a Marriott.

It was perfect for our pre-cruise needs. There is a dock by the hotel that yachts dock at. My dad and I use to walk around it the morning of the cruise. It became part of “being on vacation.” Once we were at that hotel - the vacay had begun. No worry about traffic to the pier. Heck - I think it is about 2 1/2 miles - in theory you could walk.

If you're flying into FLL, you'll have a hard time finding anything with a shuttle. We've flown into FLL and cruised out of Miami twice. The first time we stayed at the Intercontinental (I got a great rate through Hotwire as a mystery hotel) and we took a paid shuttle service (SAS who I DO NOT recommend) to the hotel and a taxi to the port. It was like $10 for the taxi.

The next time we went we rented a car and drove from FLL to a hotel on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, then we drove down the next day, returned the rental car to the location closest to port and they had a free shuttle from the car rental to the port. I don't recommend staying in Ft. Lauderdale over spring break. It was a NIGHTMARE. Never again. Ugh.

If I were booking again, honestly, I would just got on Hotwire about a month before, choose something near the port/downtown in Miami and book another one of those mystery rates for the hotel class that fits my budget. All the hotels in the area that I researched were pretty solid. The Holiday Inn is good for a budget (almost stayed there as a recommendation from here) and we were comfortable at the Intercontinental if you have a little more to spend. I wouldn't worry as much about a shuttle if you're close to the port as taxis are cheap and plentiful. Like $10. Or Uber/Lyft if you prefer.

We took an Uber from FLL to Miami and stayed at Hampton Inn Miami Beach - Mid Beach the night before our cruise. Decent price, decent location. In the morning we walked across the street and spent an hour playing in the ocean before heading to the port.
