Hi everyone, so excited for my family’s first cruise ever - and doubly excited that it’s on DCL!

We are sailing mid-May from Port Everglades. We arrive the night before and will be staying at a hotel on the beach and will take a rideshare to the Port on cruise day.

For our trip from the cruise terminal to the airport for our flight home, what would folks recommend? I was going to just pre-schedule a rideshare to the airport, but wasn’t sure if there is a Disney transportation option that might be easier. Car services I’ve looked at are at least $150 which seems really steep for a short trip.

Related question, I know the airport is fairly close to the terminal. What is the earliest time that should be good for booking return flight on disembarkment day?

DCL recommends 11am as the earliest flight post-cruise flying out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. You may be able to make it to an earlier flight, but if there is any delay returning to port you would need to deal with any impact to missing a flight; DCL won't assist and likely any insurance won't cover if you book an earlier flight.

If there were no delays in docking, immigration, or customs and one walked their own luggage off the ship as soon as passengers were allowed to disembark, one took a taxi (first in line, and one has TSA Pre or Clear, it's possible to be through airport security by 8:45 or 9am.

If there's a delay in docking/ship's clearance or getting ashore, however you need a great alternative plan.

How many people and what is your expected level of service/ verhicle?

It‘s a short distance from port to airport. $150? Ouch.

Who cares about service? Why would anyone pay 150-200 dollars for a 10 minute ride. Shuttles are like 15 a person and there is walk up service. Cabs are between 15-30 depending on traffic and if you need a van and Uber is 10-30 depending on what service and how surgy they are being with prices. There are much better uses of that money to improve your holiday over a fancy 10 minute spin to the airport

Is that for transport from the Ft. Lauderdale port to the Ft. Lauderdale airport, or did they accidentally quote the price for transport to the Miami airport?

It's just about (a hair over) 3 road miles from the Disney terminal in Port Everglades to the Fort Lauderdale airport terminal. The airport and Port Everglades are pretty much adjacent to each other. You can literally see the ships from the airport (it's a little harder to see the airport from the ships, but only because the airport terminal is nondistinct). And a good portion of that 3 mile distance is a big loop you go around as you enter the airport in a vehicle.

Honestly the FLL to PE situation makes those cruises so much more attractive compared to PC.
yes, but it was nearly the same with MIA and port of Miami. Also, very easy to get from one to the other. But still they had much bigger issues selling the Miami cruises. Will be interesting to see how it develops with Port Everglades and the dedicated Disney terminal.

Last year I got off the Dream on the morning of Christmas Eve in Port of Miami. We flew home out of Fort Lauderdale. Debarkation was scheduled for 8:00 am and our flight was at 10:50.

In reality they opened the gangway at 7:15. We did express walkoff and were thru customs by 7:30, in an Uber by 7:32, and at the airport by 8:00. With TSA pre check we were at the gate by 8:20.

So if everything worked out getting on a 9:00 flight when at Port Everglades is possible. It would also cause a lot of anxiety though.
