Port Canaveral -Suggestions for a very late departure

On our return home, our flight leaves at 9:30 at night. Obviously, sitting around the airport for an entire day does not sound like fun. Do you have any suggestions for easy things to do during the day preferably - close to the port or airport? Neither of us want to rent a car for the day - so it would need to be a place where they have options for luggage storage.

Not any places that I know of for luggage storage but you could take the DCL bus back to the airport and then rent a day room (about $89). It gives you a room to hang out in for the day (until 6:00 pm I believe) and use of the hotel facilities like rooftop pool. You can nap, watch TV, shop the airport stores, swim or just hang out and people watch.

Contact the Hyatt MCO and inquire about day rooms. I believe you can book them in advance.

I can think of a few places to go near the airport that you could taxi to if you wanted to explore but not go out to Disney Springs.

1. Florida Mall is fairly close to the airport for shopping and dining. There is a Disney Store, a Macy's, M &M world store and lots of others. Carlos bakery just opened there a month or so ago if you are interested in visiting that. They have a large food court for lunch and dinner time too.

2. Semoran Blvd is right outside of the airport and has lots of dining options on that road, but not much by way of entertainment. However, a taxi would be able to get you there efficiently.

3. Get a day room at the Hyatt and use their pool and facilities or just rest up after disembarking early in the AM.

4. International drive is a taxi ride away and has shopping, entertainment and dining venues that are pretty cool. However, if you make it all the way to I drive, you might as well go a bit further to Disney Springs and hang there for a bit.

I'd reconsider renting the car, they can be had cheap and the drive to the airport is a snap

then you can explore the Cocoa Beach area or consider visiting KSC . . .

On one of our cruises we had the same time flight as you, we booked a room at Disney. We were with a group, so had a van pick us up. When we got to the resort we checked our bags in for our flights and got our boarding passes. We spent the whole day at the pool, showered in our room (which was ready when we arrived in the morning about 9!)and had an early dinner before heading to the airport. It was perfect!

You could get a room at one of the Cocoa Beach hotels and spend the day at the beach and have a place to clean up before heading to the airport. There are several restaurants at the port where you can watch the ships leave in the afternoon as well.

We've done the day room at Hyatt at MCO. We just took Disney transport to the airport, got our room, went swimming, and then had dinner, and then off to our flight. It was super easy. A day room at a Disney hotel like the previous poster did sounds way more fun though - I didn't know they did that!
