We've used Budget for the 1 way car rental to the port, and there was a free shuttle. Does anyone know if they still provide the free shuttle? Is there another rental car agency that also does one?

2 years ago, I used Hertz. They also had a shuttle to the port.

How about Alamo or National?? We'll be renting from them, driving to Port C., spending a day and a night there before we cruise. Just want the easiest way to return the car.

Are you going to park the car at the terminal, or return the car before the cruise? I don't think they have a shuttle service to the port. We're going to Vero Beach and then WDW after the cruise, so we need a car after the cruise, we need to be picked up at the cruise terminal. We have gotten quotes from Avis, Budget, and now Hertz (thanks). So far Avis is the best, but it's not a bargain.

We cruised in Oct. 05. Budget and Avis had the free shuttle then. I imagine they still do. Budget is a little closer. National is farther away and they charge for their port shuttle. We used Budget and it was very easy. We had rented a car at MCO and dropped it off at Budget near the Port. After the cruise we boarded the Budget shuttle back to their location to rent a car back to the airport. Easy and cheaper than a shuttle service from MCO. Definitely cheaper than the shuttle through the cruise lines.

Mousesavers.com recommends Budget since they're the closest and offer free shuttle. My only concern is that there will be a hundred people waiting for the shuttle at Budget and we'll still be hearded like cattle w/people fighting over the next shuttle. Yes, I have a vivid imagination! If that's the case you may as well take the Disney bus. Feb. will be our first Disney cruise so we'd really like to get a limo (there will be 6 of us and will split the cost) but it's so much $ I'm torn. I don't mind driving myself, it's the shuttle part that worries me. Has anyone done this lately? :wave2:

EpcotBill,
How crowded was the Budget office? Do you recall waiting a long time to board your shuttle? After the cruise, was the Budget shuttle waiting to pick passengers up or did you have to call?

Budget does a fine job with rental cars for Port passengers. Avis is right down the street, and not too far from Budget. They also do a great job. If you're staying at the Radisson before, or after your cruise Budget is closer.

I just checked into it....Alamo doesn't have a return anywhere closeby, but National does. I think we may be staying at the Doubletree Guest Suites on N.Atlantic, and National is right down the street a few blocks. So, we'll return the car, and then take a cab to the ship. And DCL transportation back to MCO...at least that's the plan now. With a year to redo plans, who knows how it will end?!

Hi, it's been awhile since we had done this after a DCL cruise, and that's why I had posted, I wanted to see if anything had changed as far as companies go. However, I must say that the way Disney's disembarkation goes, there was not hundred people and our experience with Budget went very very smoothly.

This time we're actually on RCCL and our best quote is from Avis and that's what we have reserved. The cruise is in March, so maybe that will change.
