We are flying in one day ahead of a Disney Fantasy Cruise June 11th and plan to use a private transfer from MCO to a hotel near port canaveral or coco beach. It appears most of the commonly used hotels are a long walk or even a cab ride to the beach or decent resteraunts. Does anyone know a hotel on or very near the beach with a nice resteraunts also a close walkable distance?

The Doubletree suites is a decent hotel on the beach but I don't know about walkable restaurants from it. There are many hotels on the beach. I usually try Expedia to get an idea of what hotels are on the beach and then decide. Four points Sheraton is a block from the beach and I am pretty sure is walkable to some eating places. They have their own surf shop and is also right next to RonJon's surf shop which is always fun to visit.

We usually have a car so we stay at the Marriott Residence Inn and drive to Grills or FishLips for dinner.

We normally stay at CIS which is walking distance to several rest. Realistically, its about a 5 minute cab ride to Cocoa Beach itself(end of the channel) , and about the same distance to Grills, Rustys, and Fishlips, the 3 rest that are frequented by cruisers as they are on the water near the cruise terminals.

We stayed at the Hampton inn. It has a walkway behind the parking lot going to the beach, didn't take long at all. Breakfast buffet is included in cost of room. There is also a small hotel restaurant there and at the hotel next door (don't remember which hotel that was, sorry). And maybe a few others in walking distance, but I really didn't pay attention to be honest. We had a rental car so ate at places closer to the port for lunch and dinner.

Thanks for the input all. The more I think about it the rental car might be worth it. I just checked AVIS through my Costco membership and see I can get a grand caravan for $108 with pick up at MCO and drop off near the port. We have 6 people so luggage might be tight but the Freedom to go where we want when we want is great. We have also recently decided to bring a car seat for excursions with my DD3. So might as well use it for transfer.
