PORS and ECV?

We are staying at PORS for our Sept trip. My mom will be in an ECV. The transportation there concerns me, since I know the bus stops first at POFQ and then has several stops at PORS. I have requested building 14 in the Alligator Bayou section and had them mention that mom is in an ECV, in an attempt to make sure we are close to the first PORS bus stop. However, if they happen to put us over in the Mansions, by the last bus stop, what is the proceure? If there are no ECVs on the bus, and they stop to allow people on, will they make the people sitting in those reserved seat get up or we will just have to watch bus after bus go by? I would hate for the people in those seats to get mad and say something to my mom about having to give their seats up, but how else does someone with an ECV get on? My husband and I don't mind standing and expect to do so, but my mom can not. We've considered changing resorts, but we really want to try PORS as it is the only moderate we've never stayed at. Should I be concerned?

I am actually in this same situation staying at the same resort. Subscribbing!

I think that I can help.

All folding seating on the Disney bus fleet is clearly labled that able bodied guests must give way to disabled guests who are in wheelchairs or ECV's. They are also asked to make way for other mobility impaired guests.

If the bus is not full and a guest in a mobility device is waiting at a bus stop, we will load you just like the bus is empty. You will be loaded before other guests at that stop and if there are guests sitting in the seats at the tiedown positions, they will be asked to move. I will say that in my 18 months as a driver, I have only had one guest object and I then politely pointed out the sticker to him and he moved. If the bus is full or it is loaded to a point that it would not be safe for you or other guests to load the mobility device, you may be asked to wait for another bus and that bus would be directed to start at your bus stop first.

Now at POR, the bus does not always start at POFQ. For MK and DTD the bus starts at Riverside and then goes over to FQ. With the new routing system even some Epcot, Studios and AK buses start at Riverside west depot.

WDW is probably the best place for accomodating mobility disadvantaged guests, if we cannot accomodate you right then we will make an effort to accomodate you very shortly thereafter.

The only thing I ask is not to run over my toes. :goodvibes ;)

Do not worry, I had no problem with the buses with my ecv when I stayed at POR. I had a ground floor room in one of the Manisons and there was bus stop nearby.

Thanks guys! Hearing from one of the drivers down there about how it actually works makes me feel much better. I just didn't want to have to watch bus after bus passing us by, just because we had an ECV, but at the same time I also didn't want anyone who might be sitting in those handicapped seats to get upset at my mom either. This is a 75th birthday trip for her and I want it to really be special and stress free.
