Staying at POR in August. We are staying in alligator bayou because we need a trundle bed. What building would be the best? Is there one convenient to everything (food court, ol man island or quiet pool, and bus stop)? TYIA

In my opinion, the Alligator Bayou is far away from everything in general. But, if you wanted to get the closest to civilization, building 38 or 39 would be your choice.

We had room 2723 and it was wonderful. From the food court the buildings go 14, 18, then 27 in a semi-circle. I found 27 convenient to everything... 2 minute walk to the food court, 3-4 to the bus stop, and maybe 5 to the pool. It was the perfect room for us. We had a trundle bed, and although we didn't ask for it we were so happy we had it. DH is normally a bed hog, so put him in a double bed and forget about sleeping. So DH had 1 bed to himself, I shared with 1 of the kids, and the other slept in the trundle. The kids rotated the trundle every couple of nights.

I'm glad we didn't have Bldg 14 as everyone has to walk by some part of the bulding to get to another bldg. Part of 18 is a smoking bldg so we didn't want that either. IMO Bldg 27 is a great choice.

I can't believe the above quote, but I guess it depends on what you think "far away from everything" means. We have been to POR Bayou section several times; not just once or twice, but more than half a dozen. The walk from the furthest section to the main building or any bus stop is no more than 3 minutes unless you crawl or have a walker! Any section is good. RELAX!

We were in Bldg. 14 and enjoyed the convenience to the Food Court and the bus stops. Bldg. 18 looked like a good choice too as it was just a little further than 14 and was at the quiet pool and laundry.

AB is far away from everything ?...I think thats the furthest from the truth.

AB 14 is probably the best location as far as time wise...but we stayed in Room 2764 last August, a corner room, and we feel like it may have been the best we have every stayed in at POR and we have been to POR every summer since 2000, twice in 02, and going back this August and over Thanskgiving.

In fact, we have already requested AB #27. I will say this, room 2754 or 2756 are probably the BEST. ( I can't remember which one.) Everytime we walked past them last year we were jealous. What a PERFECT view of the Sass. River and the Marina.

Two years ago we stayed in the mansions...room 9239. That was very good also, a great "view" . Walk out your door and you are looking at the boat launch and Marina. The way we look at it, we feel the AB is more to our liking.

We'll be there from 8-11 to 8-22. I wish TODAY was August 11th.

I had asked a similar question before we left for POR. But after touring the entire area (mansion and aligator bayou) on our trip last week, I've decided there's not a bad location (building wise). I enjoy the corner room, more windows, and a non-smoking building, but as far as walking, they're all great! I love this place!

I just booked POR for May 26-June 5 (got AP rate!) last night and was wondering about the best building to request. Which one is closest to the main pool with the slide?

We're going to be staying at POR next week (with a 22 mth old). I was going to fax a room request on Friday. Can anyone suggest a good water view room in the mansion section? My only concern of course is the construction going on in Oak Manor & noise.

From the looks of it 38 or 39 is the farthest. 14 seems to be the closest .
