We are going to be doing a split trip, first part at Universal, then onto WDW for four nights in August. Is POR a good choice to stay at with an 8 month old baby? There will be four of us, DH will likely spend most of the time going on rides with the 10 year old in our family, while I will mostly take care of baby. I anticipate having to run back to the hotel room during the day to cool off/nap/feed baby. Is POR convenient to get back to from the parks a couple times a day? How long would we have to wait for the bus back from the parks, and how long is the ride? Hopefully not too long as I may be dealing with a fussy baby. Or is there a better resort choice for travelling with baby?

If you can afford deluxe, it is better to stay on the monorail line with a small infant.

You will most likely be spending a lot of time at MK; Epcot also has access through the TTC with the monorail.

Waiting for the buses with a fussy infant can be trying.

If you just miss the current bus, you will be waiting a maximum of 20 minutes for the next one to arrive; the average ride from the parks to POR is about 10 to 15 minutes and then you have to do the loop to get back to your bus stop depending on your location at POR. There are four stops in POR and chances are you may be stopping at POFQ first, depending on the time of day.

We stayed at both CBRnand POR with our little one and when I would take her back for naps the ride wasn't that bad. It always seemed a little slower in the afternoon than in the mornings or evenings.

I preferred POR when she was little as it was quieter and everything was close by.

You've gotten some good information about getting to and from POR by bus. We go back to the resort for a nap in the afternoon and have never found transportation to be a problem. I just wanted to comment about what you said about cooling off and feeding the baby. Are you aware of the baby care centers in each of the parks? A cool, quiet place for you and the baby during feeding times, or any other time when you and the baby need to get some time away. It won't replace a long nap at the resort, but can sure be a respite for you while you're in the park.

Thanks all, good advice! I think we will go with POR, I'd like to be able to walk around downtown Disney with baby while the other two are at the parks. Unfortunately a deluxe resort is way beyond our budget so I guess we'll have to skip it! I'm sure we will enjoy our time regardless! Cheers!
