I have changed my ressie --- again --- by adding more days --- and now I have POR water view. Which buildings are water view? :confused3 I would like to be in the AB section, who should I call to request this? :confused3

We will also be there for my husband's birthday now. Should I mention that too?

Just a suggestion, but I wouldn't waste the money on a water view at POR. There are so many little puddles of water and itty bitty little streams that you can barely see because they are covered with tons of bushes and plants and they are all considered water view. Its just not worth it. Pretty much any other resort I would say go for it, but NOT at POR. Just a thought that the money could be put to better use elsewhere.

I agree - water view at POR is a waste of $$$. DJ Disney Kid is right. There are no back balconies of the rooms to sit and look at the water, just your front walk ways. And it's so lushly landscaped that half the time you can't see the water. See if you can get standard instead.

:)

we had a water view in december and booked for one again in july. my kid's favorite part of por was waking up and having the pool right in front of our door. if they weren't with me, i wouldn't care what my view was. por is a beautiful resort!!! if you are booking water view because you want a certain view, but it as a request, i think you can have 3 requests...mine says first floor, quiet pool view.

We were upgraded to waterview one year and I agree with the above posters....I would never pay for it at POR. Especially if you are requesting AB section, the view is nice where ever you are.

We like to get water view if we can get a nice room overlooking the river, which we always strive for. AB 14 or 27 are lovely for example, and so are the water views from Parterre and Oak. True, you don't have a 'real' balcony, but you can still step straight out of your door and the scenery is beautiful. We had an upper floor room in Parterre one time, where we could see the river ferry boats from the window and watch the horse-draw carriages in the evening. Really magical.

River view rooms tend to be the nearest to the main buildings too, which is worth bearing in mind too as it makes them closer to other resorts' concept of a "preferred" room.

But I agree with others in that a view overlooking a "puddle" or fountain is probably not worth the extra money, and we've asked to be moved if we've been offered that sort of room. Pool view is a personal choice; I'd say not really worth it for the view - but if you want quick access for swimming of course, it's great.

But the whole place is lovely anyway - apart from a few parking lot views, you'll be fine anywhere.

Water View was the only rooms that was avail. If I were to request the AB section, would I call back the main ressie line or would I call POR directly?

Thanks in advance!!

At this point you would need to call Central Reservations. Within 3 days or so of your arrival you could contact POR directly.

I requested a waterview room. I hope I won't be disappointed. I was afraid that if I requested a standard, we'd end up facing a parking lot or something.

Did you book a waterview because that is all they had left or did you book it on purpose? Just do you know there are no balconies at POR and all of the rooms open onto a public walkway so it is not like you are going to be able to sit out on your balcony and enjoy your view. For this reason I usually advise against paying extra for a water view room at any of the moderates. Save the money and use it on something else.

Thats not always bad. Last year we ended up facing the parking lot. You really couldn't see the parking lot though. It depends where your located. But it is also is excess for loading and unloading.:cool1:

am i the only one who has pulled the chairs out of the room and onto the porch. i was able to listen to the football game and watch the kids swim. alot of guys walked by and asked what the score was because they could hear the commentators. the night the redskins played we knew it would be a night to stay at the resort, and the kids loved it!! I sent the hubby to the food court to bring back dinner for everyone, boy was he mad when he missed the biggest play of the entire game. hehe ps- i didn't know they had take out until almost our last night.

We had a garden view which we loved- and it was included in the standard room price. After struggling with whether or not I should upgrade to water-view, I'm really glad we didn't do it, once we saw the lack of real water views.
In regards to requests, we had good luck with our request, but then again, I requested Oak Manor- not your typical request. Good luck:thumbsup2
