We are booked in a POR Royal Guest Room for the last week in October, but I just saw that a standard view room at Wilderness lodge is only about $600 more for the week. Is the price difference worth it for the added convienience of location? Thank you in advance to all who respond.

Ugh, that's a hard question, they are 2 of my fav resorts!! I love POR for their beautiful grounds, food court, and boat to DTD, Bob Jacksons show, and over all theming.

I also love the theming of WL, walking into the lobby is wow! Everything is under 1 roof, so if it's raining you don't have to go out to grab a bite to eat or refill your mug. One bus stop, and boat to MK. Rooms have balconies, and inside halls giving you more privacy, as people aren't walking in front of your windows looking in :roll eyes:

I would upgrade, but really, I'm happy at either. POR is my choice if I stay moderate. No bad choices here.

Those are my two favorite resorts too! And I agree with everything the previous poster said. $600 is not that much more for how awesome WL is. I say do it! (But you also won't be disappointed if you keep POR :) )

It's worth it ... I love POR but it's tough to beat the WL

These are our favorite resorts as well. If we can swing it, we always spend the extra for WL. I love having a balcony and everything under one roof. The boat to MK and the monorail resorts is also great. POR is a close second, and we are actually going back there this year. On a little tighter budget this trip since oldest starts college this fall! :sad2:

We are struggling with this decision as well! We have stayed at POR twice but after visiting WL on our last trip, we love the decor. We also think we would love having the balcony, and the WL refurbished rooms are gorgeous. Only things I am concerned about are the pool being overcrowded at WL and the small food court, since we eat in the food court every day. We love the POR food court and love the quiet pools at POR. Tough choices!

A little more information: we have 2 girls (6 and a week from 2) at time of trip. So Royal guest rooms are attractive, but I'm concerned about bus travel; wife concerned about money. Also, my parents will be coming down mid week for their first WDW trip since 1991 (they will be using unused park tickets from that trip). This will be my first trip since 1995, which was not a pleasant trip because my right lung collapsed (long story but I will tell later if anyone is interested).

As much as I love WL. Unless $$ is no object I would save the 600 to spend on something else. But you just tipped the scales when you added your children. WL is even better if you plan to spend a lot of time at MK. Easy to get to and back for naps. If you had older kids or all adults I would pick PoR. Either way have a great time!

Considering the ages of your kids, i'd go with WL because its closest to MK. But i'd go for that only if money isnt an issue. For me, I honestly dont think i'd cough up $600 to stay at WL. I'd go for POR. I love that resort anyway. And I esp love the boat to DTD! Since your kids are 2 & 6 you will probably be spending more time at MK which is convenient because its just a boat ride away. For this reason alone i think it might be worth it to stay at WL. But again, if money is a concern i'd just go for POR. Its so pretty. And I will stress again that having the boat to DTD is awesome! I love DTD, cant you tell? :goodvibes

Both resorts are great, so no matter which you choose it'll be a great trip. :thumbsup2

We have stayed at WL for the past 5 years (including our upcoming trip). For the first night we normally stay at a different resort just so we can check it out prior to our package starting. My dd (8) loves WL. She loves the bunk beds and loves the boat ride to and from MK. She was also the one to suggest taking the boat to catch the monorail to head to Epcot which we now do and love that as well. My dh and I love the balacony aspect as when she goes to sleep we sit on the balacony, light my citronella candle, have a drink and enjoy the evening.

We've never stayed at POR, but we love WL :). If the extra cost is doable, I would change to WL for the close proximity to MK, interior corridors, and a little larger room. We love the WL for the theme/decor, location, and the boat for going to MK as well as to the CR where we can shop, dine, & visit there as well as hop on the monorail and visit the Poly and GF. With that said, I don't think you can go wrong with either resort as I'm sure you will have a magical trip no matter which resort you choose :wizard:.

I have never stayed at POR, but I have stayed at WL. I'd love to try the Royal Rooms at POR though! One thing to consider is what kind of view you will get at WL with a standard view, if that is something that is important to you. I have only had a woods view category, but have read some complaints about standard view. Either way, you will be in Disney so you are going to have a great time!
