POR vs POFQ discounts

I'm looking to book for June of next year, as soon as rates come out this summer, but I've been trying to look at some of the discounts that have been offered. I think I decided to book either POR, preferably a Royal room, or POFQ. I like things about both resorts, so I'm having a hard time deciding. A POR Royal room will be more expensive, but it seems like POR seems to get better discounts than POFQ. :confused3 Some discounts I've seen (maybe the current discount?) don't have POFQ listed at all! I was just wondering if people have generally felt this to be true, for Disney discounts and/or AAA discounts. Does POFQ not get as many discounts because it's more popular and a smaller resort? If that's the case, I may be likely to go ahead and book the POR room, then change resorts later if a better discount comes out.

Going this mid-June and One of the families in our group is using the AAA discount at POFQ (think it may be 20%?). We are using a 20% spring promo. discount from Orbitz at POFQ..but still waiting to see if Disney announces anything better (think that answer may be fat chance!)

We switched our May reservation from POFQ to POR Royal Rooms and saved $400. The current Spring special was not included in POFQ. There was a ticket discount available but it didn't save us very much. MY TA explained it as they can book POFQ fully without offering the discounts and more people are willing to stay at POR because of the discounts, thus filling up both resorts.

We are booked in a RR this June with the Spring Discount. It is 25% off. POFQ was 5% off.

Can you still get a AAA discount if you book a package with them? And does this also vary by which resort you choose, like with Disney?

POFQ is one of the smallest resorts. Thus, it sells out more quickly than some of the others without a discount.
Each discount is determined on a case-by-case basis. If a resort, or room category for that matter, reaches a certain thresh hold at rack rate, then they won't offer a discount for that resort or they'll modify the discount to get to their target capacity.

80% is only around 800 rooms at POFQ. The same percentage at POR is around 1600.

There are other benefits of the smallness of POFQ that may convince people to pay a little extra to stay there instead of POR.

I've also noticed a trend with Disney offering better discounts to smaller groups. For example, I was able to book POFQ with the Armed Forces Salute discount (around a 33% discount). However, I found out that someone else going during similar dates couldn't use the Spring discount for a discount at POFQ at all. She did qualify for a smaller discount through AAA though. She wants to stay at POFQ, so she's willing to pay extra to stay there.
The general public discounts tend to have the least availability.

The current offer does include PORQ we have a discount on our reservation there second week in April but the discount is smaller than POR. We saved 200 off our package booked with AAA.
