I right now have POR booked for our March trip but from reading what others have posted about POFQ I am thinking about possibly switching over to POFQ. I keep hearing about how much smaller this resort is and that the bus service is a little better. Having a sit down resteraunt is not important to us, for anyone who has stayed at both can you compare the rooms? I have looked at pictures of both resorts and the theming of the two seems the rooms are on the dark side which is fine with me also. I just would like to hear personal opinions before I contact my TA and have her try to switch..Thanks for any help.

I haven't stayed at POFQ but we did go and walk around the grounds. The size alone would make me pick it over POR the next time we stay at a moderate. If you've got kids, mine said the pool at POFQ looked better than the POR pool which they really didn't enjoy.

I just returned from POR and have stayed at POFQ........the FQ is much smaller and IMO easier to get around, but if it is important for you to have pool time I would choose POR since they have several quiet pools whereas the FQ only has the 1 pool and it is usually quite crowded, also the food court is bigger at POR since it is a larger resort. Given the option I would choose the FQ but you really can't go wrong with either.

We stayed POR in 2004, FQ in 2005.

PROS of POR:

Quiet pools are nice
Sit-down restaurant
Bigger Food Court

PROS of FQ:
Much more compact
I like atmosphere more
Usually first bus stop

I loved both resorts but if we stay at one of the two again I would choose FQ.

We stayed at POR a couple years ago and it was very nice. We checked out the FQ side and used their pool etc... and it was very nice too! We would definitely stay at the FQ. If the onsite restaraunt is no big deal to you then go for it. We felt like that was the only drawback not having a restaraunt. But it's really not a long walk to Riverside if you ever wanted to use the restaraunt. So my vote would be for you to try out the FQ. Good luck.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I went ahead and called my TA and had her book POFQ for us instead of POR. I think that staying at the smaller resort will work better for us. Another question though, can you catch the DD boat at POFQ or do you have to go to POR to catch it? Also since this is a smaller resort and I know nothing about it what section should I request? I wouldn't mind being close to the food court but it isn't a big thing if we weren't. Thanks once again for the help.

Good call...you'll love POFQ...the small size and fairly recent refurb make it an excellent choice. You can catch the boat at POFQ there is a dock. Just fyi we walked over to POR while we were staying at POFQ and had what was probably our best meal of that trip for dinner at Boatwrights....Just a thought in case you are thinking of a dinner one night and wanna stick close to the resort. :wave2:

You'll have no regrets if you change to POFQ. It's my favorite Disney resort. I've stayed at POFQ 6 times to POR 2 times. The second stay at POR was because I couldn't get POFQ at the post card rate.

there is also something that I think POR has that POFQ doesn't

entertainment in their lounge.

now if you don't drink - just stay with POFQ.

but if you do and like entertainment - then I would go with POR.

that is if you can verify that the entertainment is still happening....

We were at POFQ at the end of September and there was live entertainment in their bar/lounge as well. So there is live entertainment at both.

I have stayed at the POR (August, 2005), and just returned last night from the POFQ. I loved the whole atmosphere at POR. It is my favorite. As for my stay at POFQ, I was disappointed. My sister and I were there 12/3 12/7. I really liked the fact that it was a smaller resort, and the bus service was faster since there were less stops. The restaurant and gift shop were good. My problem was the rooms. When we first got there, everything was good. For some reason after the second day, our room was not cleaned that well. Then there was the bug that looked like a cockroach. This is another story!!! On the last day, some kids in the next room were trying to get into our room through the connecting door. This was about 8:15 a.m. The night before we asked for a later checkout since our flight was leaving late evening. The CM I talked to entered it while I was standing there, and said there would be no problem. The next day around 10:30 a.m. an adult in the same room next door opened the connecting door for our room. I thought this was strange since I checked it after the incident with the kids. When we went to checkout, I told the CM what had transpired that day. Her explanation was that since we had two rooms, this was why the door opened. During the rest of the explanation, she acted like it was our fault. At this point, I was pretty upset. First of all, we had one room. I asked her what screen she was looking at, and all she could say was "I don't know what to say." Needless to say, I had a bad experience at POFQ, and I have written a letter to Disney. I vote for POR. I have been to Disney five (5) times since September, 04. Each time I stayed at a Disney resort, and never had a problem. My travel agent steered me away from POFQ last year because of renovations or something. I thought their issues were straightened out. :confused3

Before you make your decision, why don't you go to Expedia or Travelocity. Both of those sites have hotel ratings posted by consumers. You can really learn alot that way.
BTW, I stayed at POR in October and loved it. I think it's prettier than FQ, but if you are worried about the size and the amount of walking, you may prefer the smaller resort.

Either way, have fun.

We just returned from POR, and while we think it is a very nice resort, we won't ever stay there again. It's very spread out. They both have the boat service. They both have nice pools. You can't rent surrey bikes or boats from FQ. The foot court is smaller, but I thought it was very nice and very well themed. I liked the look of the FQ better. It seemed more up to Disney standards. I thought POR looked a little worn. And, while a lot of the time the two parks don't share buses, I don't know how many times in the morning a bus would stop by POR and it was near full from being at FQ first. POR has Bob Jackson (I think that's his name. He plays the piano). They also have a sitdown restaurant, but we didn't eat there. If I had to pick between the two of them I would pick FQ handsdown, and it has always been my dream to stay at POR.

I'd pick POFQ. Just returned from POR, but spent every evening at Scat Cat's Lounge over at POFQ. One reason-Elliot Dyson, he's the live entertainer at POFQ, plays many instruments (but mostly sax) and he sings-lots of fun!
