Hello,

I posted earlier about trying to add dates at the Wilderness Lodge to surprise my husband. (Original post title "What are the chances?") Anyway, I kept hitting a brick wall. I decided that I would rather stay at the same place for the entire 4 nights.

I was able to get a king room at POR Riverside. I don't know much about this resort. I have looked at a few pictures on wdwig.com, and have decided to request a mansion based on pictures. For those of you who are familiar with the mansions, which have the best views? We would love to be close to the DTD ferry and in reasonable distance to a bus stop.

What do the POR Riverside "experts" suggest?

What are YOUR favorite mansions?

 Please convince me that I will like POR ;)

Thanks in advance,
Disney Allison

We've stayed in both AB and the Mansions. I prefer Magnolia Terrace. We were in bldg. 85(if I remember correctly). We had a veiw of the water. Not a big one, more like a peek. But it was a great area. There is a bus stop across the parking lot. There is a nice quiet pool there, with laundry facilities. It was about a 4 minute walk to the food court, past the main pool area. We are going down in Aug and I would have loved to stay there again. But, my dd says..'Please can we try CBR?' So, off we go. Hope we like it as much. We loved the boats to DD. Our bad luck that they weren't running last Nov!!! I think you'll like POR. It was quite peaceful. The food court was fine. My dh is quite picky about his food and he had no complaints there. Even Boatwrights, the sit-down restaurant, was pretty good. Many haven't liked it, over-priced, mediocre food. But we found it to be fine. All in all a very nice resort.

Check out my website, DH and I stayed in a king room at Magnolia Terrace last month. We loved it! We used the east bus depot, which was a 2 minute walk from Magnolia Terrace. Having the boat to Downtown Disney is a great advantage. It's just right across the bridge.

This moderate is great for adult travelers, IMHO. The boat (which we used 3 times) gives you great access to DD. The theme is beautiful without being overpowering.

As me any specific questions you may have :D

Love the MB section in particular Oak Manor & Parterre Place. THey are close to the main bldg, just a matter of walking over the bridge. We like this section because it is quieter and the landscaping is especially wonderful. Sometimes we just sit outside by one of the fountain or in the gazebo and watch the other guest. The POR food court is the best and we enjoy Boatwrights. Dont miss the entertainer Bob in the lounge in the evening he is hiliarous. I think you will enjoy this resort.

Check www.disneyzone.actusa.net for their resort tour.

We have stayed in four different locations at Riverside. I will give you my opinion of each.

Parterre Place - In my opionion, this mansion building has the best architectual look of all the mansions. I also think the best views of the river are here. The best bus stop for this area is acutally the south depot at the main building, so the walk is a little long to and from the busses. Likewise the walk to and from the food court and main pool are a little long, but the scenery is beautiful. Just a quick FYI, the wing of this mansion closest to Oak Manor affords you a much shorter walk to the main building.:) If you are interested in the quiet pool, this mansion shares one with Oak Manor.

Acadian House - The architecture is my least favorite of the mansions, but as they say, location, location, location. Very short walk to the main pool and food court. Also, the north depot bus stop is very convenient.

Alligator Bayou #28 - Lengthy walk to the food court and main pool. Not convenient to a bus stop. The closest is the west depot. It is very close to a quiet pool.

Alligator Bayou #37 - VERY close to the north depot. Not a bad walk to the main building. Also, if you are planning to use your car frequently, this building is very accessable to the parking lot.

Now, if I were going to try and pick the best building to stay in, I would chose.....Magnolia Terrace because it is so close to the east depot, a short walk to the main pool area, and a quick walk to the foot bridge taking you to the main building.

I have stayed in each of the 4 Mansions. My vote goes to Magnolia Terrace. Loved the gazebo they had outside, facing the river. Best view, best for convenience.

Another vote for Magnolia Terrace. Loved the convenience to the East Bus Depot. Last trip stayed at Parterre Place - not as nice! We are leaving Saturday night and will request Magnolia Terrace again. We have never stayed in Alligator Bayou, but it looks lovely.

POR is absolutely gorgeous and serene, uncrowded and sparkling. Be sure to take a boat out on the river or rent a bike, even if for a little while.
I found it to be a little to spread out and large for our family's needs, however, I have to heartily recommend it for anybody lucky enough to be in Magnolia or Par Terre. As of yesterday, they were doing lots of outside work - scaffolding, gutters, main bus depot. Every CM was helpful and kind and couldn't do enough for us.
The great rate made it well worth it for a brief stay. Any questions, please feel free.
