OK I have the AP rate of $121 a night for POR riverside the week before Easter BUT I also booked Comfort Suites Maingate East for the rate of $59 (w/o tax) for the same week.

Now my dilema, POR has that "Disney Magic" and you are on site, ComfortSuites gives us a suite(micro, fridge, separate sleeping area) Deluxe continental breakfast, this particular hotel is like 2 1/2 years old so it's brand new...

I am so torn!!! I go through this every trip...onsite or off!

Please any opinions?? I have never stayed at POR so can't even say I've been there...HELP!

Emmy,

I usually and am known for suggesting offsite but in this case I would beg to differ...

Your comparisons are with a moderate Disney vs an economy suite, so I would vote for the POR.

Now if your were going for an upscale or 4 star property I think it would be worth it but $121 is a pretty good price for a Disney moderate (especially that time of year) and though POR is not my favorite, I would probably stay there than a Comfort Suites.

If you were to check on the rates at Cypress Pointe or Windsor Palms, which are much nicer properties that have great rates, I would lean towards them!

We have stayed at both places. Two years ago at the Port Orleans and last October at Comfort Suites Maingate East.
I could recommend both but for different reasons.
The Port Orleans gives you the "magic" and location of staying on the disney property. If you have a car, you do not pay for parking at the parks. The pool is very nice and there are plenty of chairs. The downside of staying on property is the expense of the meals.

Comfort Suites Maingate East has larger rooms with a small refrigerator. Although off site, travel time to parks is less than 15 minutes by car. I did not use the shuttle, but many people did.
It has a nice pool area with plenty of chairs and towels. The biggest plus for the Maingate is financial. That is, the cost per room and the free and very good continental breakfast. With these 2 savings, we were able to dine where ever we desired on or off site.

Considering these factors, my choice would be the Comfort Suites. I feel that the difference in room costs allows us better dining choices. More bang for the buck considering the amount of time that I would spend in the hotel room.
