I am going to POR for Mother's Day weekend--- and staying in POR for the first time. I have read many posts and web pages about this resort undergoing major renovations. Have these started already? I did not request a room--- and am open to any of the rooms available-- we will have a car and so distance from the major areas is not a concern. I just didn't want to be next to hammering and all that. Any information from people who have been there very recently?:wave2:

I returned from POR (3/27), the rehab wasn't a problem, I know Oak Manor was closed but not sure of any other buildings. Our room was in AB 16, it was great, very clean, close to main building, food court, main pool, fishing hole, marina, etc. The bus service was great never waited more than 5-10 minutes. The CM's were very professional and Mousekeeping left us a Mickey Minnie towel sculpture (so cute). Only downside, the food court was very crowded, the Grab and Go area ran out of items almost every night, plus hot items were only available from (7am-10pm), this did not work out very well with the parks extended hours and EMH. Don't miss the bakery, they make hot fresh cinnamon rolls on the premise (heavenly!). Dinner at Boatwrights was very good and Bob Jackson's performances at the River Roost were great.

I can't wait for my first stay at POR in May--- I am looking forward to seeing and experiencing it all-- thanks again for all your info.:wave2:

Hey Florida Girl, maybe we'll see you there!!!

I have been a little bit anxious about the renovations and am waiting to see what buildings are closed before making room requests. Our family of 3 wants to be in the mansion section.

This is my three year old's second trip-- we went in March and just felt SO rushed that I was able to talk my sister into coming with me this time-- my husband will sit this trip out-- since we are in Florida and she is the perfect age to enjoy it all-- I am thinking we will be making lots of visits! I am anxious to get down there again and experience a new resort for me. I have only stayed in the Coronado and the Contemporary-- so I am excited about POR!

We have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside 3 times (although it was still called Dixie Landings then) and we love it there! This is our first trip with our 1 year old daughter. We thought the atmosphere at a moderate might be better for her (our original reservations were at POP) when taking an afternoon break from the parks. We also love Caribbean Beach resort but we could only find the discount rates at POR. We can't wait for our trip!!!

we're staying at por in july and i had requested magnolia terrace bldg #85 last october. i've been reading on the boards about ongoing re-hab there so i called por today and the cm i got said no such re-hab was going on:confused: , i mentioned that i didn't want to be surprised about my room when i got there and would they be notifing me of any changes before hand. the cm was very sure that re-hab wasn't taken place. so i wonder what's going on.:(
