POR or WL

I am trying to decide between these two resorts.... I know that WL is nicer and larger but it is also more expensive. I was wondering if anyone has stayed at both resorts and what they thought?

We have never stayed at a deluxe before and we would love to but we want to make sure that it is worth the extra money.

Any advice here would be great.

Also we are looking to go around next Christmas... is one resort decorated better than the other?

Thanks so much again :earboy2: :earboy2: :earboy2:

We stayed at POR (it was Dixie Landings at the time) and just recently stayed at the WL.

While I loved POR, I loved WL even more because of the following:

(1) My family likes to 'sleep in', I'm the early riser. I was able to get up and dressed and take a short walk with my mug to get coffee, and enjoy a peaceful morning relaxing with the paper in the amazing lobby or patio while my family snoozed. They always knew to meet me there when they got up for breakfast. While POR had a nice lobby, it doesn't even come close to the great sofas/chairs of the WL, or the ambiance of relaxing in a rocker by the bubbling springs.

(2) The food court was literally right off the pool area, making it so easy for the kids to grab a snack or drink while swimming.

(3) We had our car, and used that primarily for transportation; it was a quick walk outside to where it was parked. Even on the day we used the bus to get to MK for our CP breakfast, the bus stop was a short walk outside and totally covered in case of inclement weather.

I will say that POR has a much larger food court, which more extensive offerings, but we were perfectly happy with what we had at Roaring Forks. Having the car made it easy to go somewhere else (we actually went to POR one morning; the kids wanted pancakes and waffles, which are not offered at Roaring Forks).

We're now WL lovers, and will probably make that our first choice for our next trip.

You're not going to go wrong with either resort. I've stayed at both and had a wonderful time at both. You should get with your family and make a list of priorities. If being all in one building is a priority, then POR is out. If you want easy access to DTD, then POR is the way to go. See what I mean?

They both have awesome pools (POR has more quiet pools, but they can be quite a hike from your room), good food (WL has nicer restaurants, but a smaller 'food court') and beautiful scenery so you'll be happy no matter what. See what your family says and maybe that will help you decide.

Good Luck!

I have stayed in POFQ and WL on one trip but not POR, although i would like to stay there. I had only stayed in deluxe resorts when i stayed in POFQ and although it was very nice - i missed the lodge, and i didn't enjoy the way the bedroom door opened onto the outside. I suppose the price difference didn't matter so much, as I had AP rate then, and they applied that when i moved. That said, i would stay in a moderate again, if money were an issue, but i think the theming of POR appeals to me most.

Location, location, location!!!! In this case the WL lobby! It's an awesome place to just sit around, relax, sip coffee or tea and people watch or meet up with your party to just soak in the ambience. The resort is magnificently decorated at Christmas. Plus, the restaurants are right there as well as a very nice gift shop(The Mercantile, I bought the majority of my souviners right there). PO is very nice, but if you can swing the extra money, go WL. You will NOT regret it!!!

An added bonus, the boat to the MK, plus a beautiful view of the MK fireworks from the front driveway! :Pinkbounc

I too would choose the WL over POR but my main reason is bed size. POR are doubles WL is queen. DH and I can't sleep well in a double bed. Since you are going at Christmas time WL is decorated beautifully.

I think either one do you like inside like a hotel or outside

I have stayed at both WL and POR and if you have the money I recommend you stay at WL. Our stay at WL was just magical, no complaints whatsoever. Loved the grounds, boat to MK, restaurants, lobby.

Although our stay at POR was nice as well, I did not like the evening bus service, food court, noisy a/c and motel-like feel to the room. That being said, I would stay at POR again if on a budget. However, I would prefer to stay at WL.

Hope this helps.

I've stayed at both and have to say that I honestly would not go to Disney World if my only option was POR. I strongly disliked that resort...

WL is my most favorite resort, hands down. :cheer2:

Save your pennies and make the reservation at WL...

we looked at both and went with WL, the price was about $100 more a night for WL but we thought it was worth it, there are more activities and it seems like overall a much nicer place. We also plan to spend most of our time at MK, so WL is very close.
