My husband and I are planning a trip for May. We have stayed at both Mods and Deluxe, but have never stayed at POR or POFQ. I was wondering if anyone could help us decided between the two.

I have looked at the pictures and love them both....but I have yet to see an updated picture of Aligator Bayou. From the looks of the old ones, I am not a fan.

How different are the pools? Eating? Noise level? Size of the resort? Bus routes/times.

Thank you for your help!

Can't speak to the rest of the questions, but I do know POFQ is a great deal smaller than POR. Also, I believe there is no sit-down dining at POFQ.

Por is much larger than POFQ

POR has a bigger pool and some smaller ones. POFQ only has one pool.

POR has a table service wheras POFQ only has counter service

POR has several bus stops while POFQ only has one (and only shares with POFQ sometimes)

Noise level I cannot tell the difference.

My family prefers POFQ because it is smaller. We like that there really isn't a building that far from the main area. About 1/2 the people on here will agree with me, and the other 1/2 will say POR.

POFQ is smaller so it's much easier to get around. It's still very quiet and beautiful. And a lovely walk/boat ride away from POR for even more dining/swimming opportunities. We love POFQ, but both resorts are wonderful!

I have stayed at both since the refurb. I like POR better and I really thought I was a POFQ person! I enjoyed POFQ for size but felt the refurb decor was just ok for my taste. I am not nuts about the PO townhouse look....but grounds very pretty. Pool just ok. Nothing great for anyone over 8. POR theming I like much better - AB is just ok, not my thing at all. I like the mansions much better. Beautiful decor. Both were quiet. I would stay at either.

Our family loves both resorts! POFQ is nice because the bus picks up POFQ first, then goes to POR, so if you are depending on the buses, this is a plus. Sometimes the buses fill and you might not get a seat in the mornings if you are staying at POR. But we prefer the POR food court over to at the POFQ.

The renovated AB rooms are *much* nicer than the old decor. The old bright colored quilt bedspread is the reason I haven't stayed at this resort sooner. We're staying at POR in December and I can't wait.

I think you can't get wrong with either one. If walking/size is an issue, pick POFQ. If you want to be closer to a table service restaurant, pick POR.

We've stayed at POR twice and LOVED it. Both times in the AB section. I agree that the food court is slightly better, but we also took the boat over to POFQ for a quick meal with no complaints. Yee Haw Bob at POR was a plus too, but then again, the Jazz music at POFQ was nice. We are staying at the FQ this next go around to give it a try. The quiet pools were also a plus at POR, especially is its just you and DH. My vote is POR, but I really don't think you can go wrong with either.

You guys are the best! I am still so on the fence about this....what to do, what to do?

We have had 3 stays at POR, love the mansion section. AB doesn't appeal to me either. Both Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace are great locations. We had a room last August overlooking the quiet pool between these 2 buildings, in a newly renovated room :thumbsup2 it was beautiful. Queen beds, love the new furnishings and bathroom.
Both buildings are well located, close to Old Man Island (esp if you request a location close to bridge).

Love the beautiful landscaping, food court, resort store, evening entertainment, boat to dtd, and having the option of quiet pools.

This January we are trying FQ for the first time! Getting excited about that.

I have stayed at both POR & POFQ and absolutely love them both! They are my favorite out of the mods. French Quarter is a much smaller resort than Riverside. POR has mostly all the amenities like sit-down restaurant, boat rental, bike rentals, etc. POR has a nice main pool and also a few quiet pools which is nice. POFQ just the main pool. I prefer POFQ for its small size and 1 bus stop. Sometimes the two resorts share buses, with POFQ being picked up and dropped off first... but both times I've stayed at either resort, we only shared a bus once!

Both resorts are very quiet and relaxing. Even being booked, they both felt like no one was really there.. this especially happened at POR because it is so spread out. The themes are great and the grounds are beautiful at both. I think the foodcourt at POR is a lot better than FQ. We never really had any issues waiting for the buses to the parks, but that is always a hit or a miss on any given day. Both resorts have the boat transportation to DTD, which is something I really love about them. Its nice and relaxing, and good to get away from the buses for a while. My next stay in September, I chose POFQ since its a solo trip and its a lot smaller. You will love either or, I think!

I'm having the same dilemma for my Nov. trip. I've never stayed at a moderate before (only deluxe, and very close to the main areas), so I think the smaller size of POFQ will be better for us. Although I really like the decor of the mansions at POR, I'm traveling with my mom this time. I'm worried about the extra walking with her and not being able to get a seat on the bus.

DH & I are going to Disney in November (the week after Thanksgiving) for our first trip without kids! We'll be staying at POFQ! We've stayed here a few times already, and really liked it!

I'm SO EXCITED!!!! And we were able to get free dining!!!!

If I have a choice. I would pick POFQ. We're staying at POR because there's 5 in our group. I like POFQ because I like the New Orleans -Mardi Gras theme as oppose to Mississippi Bayou. Do you like the French Quarter look or do you like the Southern Bayou/Plantation style?
