DS and I may take a quick trip the end of July. We normally stay at CSR, but the sale rate is not available there for our dates. Which resort, POR or POFQ would appeal most to an 11 year old boy? He likes the pool and slides, but I like the fact that the bus stops at POFQ first. Is it a long walk between the two Port Orleans resorts? We do like the idea of the boat to DTD. Give me your thoughts.

I suppose my first instinct would be to say that the Alligator Bayou at PORS would appeal more to an 11 yr old boy than FQ. (The mansions might be a toss up with the FQ buildings.) However, both pools have slides and fun theming, and the big dragon (I think it's a dragon) at Dubloon Lagoon at FQ might really seem fun to him.

FQ is nice and small, so getting to the buses was very, very easy. The boat picks up at PORS first, but, when we were there, they filled half at PORS and then filled half at POFQ. So, they didn't take eveyone waiting at the first stop. I liked that. Since you can walk between and take advantage of all the dining, etc., he'd probably have a ball at either one.

And, at the end of the day, FQ has the beignets.

My then 8 and 6 year old did not like the POFQ pool slide. We were staying at POR and took them over to POFQ to swim. I thought for sure they would love the slide and pool area. Less than 15 minutes later they were begging to go back to POR. They love the slide, playground, and hot tub at POR. The slide there is a little more winding, so a bit faster. POFQ is just a very tame slide. POR also has the fishing hole thing. We never had a problem getting around the resort despite the size. Stayed in Magnolia Bend, and it was a short walk to the food court and pool area. The walk over to POFQ is about 15 minutes, maybe 20 at a slow pace. Even though POR is not the first stop for the bus, we never had a problem getting a seat to the parks. Our room was very close to a bus stop. Several mornings we walked to the main stop and caught the bus. I woud choose POR for an 11 year old.

I would stay at POR instead of POFQ. I think the POFQ slide and pool would be too young for your son especially if he is use the the slide at CSR.

POR isn't more spread out then CSR. I have stayed in building 39 in the AB section and had no issues with the distance from the food court or the pool. I would request to be in the AB section instead of the mansion section of the resort.

I agree with the others. Your son will be bored to tears with the slide at POFQ. While I personally like POFQ better, for an 11 year old, go with POR.

Thanks for the input! I had a feeling POR would get more votes for an 11 year old. I had read before that the pool area at POFQ was geared more for little ones and that the slide was really tame. We'll probably go with POR.

If it was just me and my husband (no children), I would select POFQ in a heartbeat. Everything is so close in proxmity to each other, and after walking in the parks all day this is a blessing in disguise. :) If you have children with you, then PO-Riverside would be a much better choice as there is more activities for the them to participate in (i.e., horse carriage rides, bike and paddle boat rentals, fishing hole, etc.,).

Have a wonderful time. :)
