POR or CBR?

My DBF and I may be taking a short weekend trip in January to see AK and DHS. He said he'd like to stay at a moderate, and I would like to try one of the mods I haven't stayed in before.

So between POR and CBR, which would you choose and why? It's just us two adults for two, maybe three nights.

They're equally appealing to me, although I don't really like the Alligator Bayou rooms at POR. I'd request the Mansions, which I'd hope we'd be more likely to get since we won't be in need of the trundle/murphy bed.

Unless the boat from POR to DTD is a really big factor in your decision, then I think you could just go with the one you like the looks of best. Having said that, if you're likely to go with CBR you might want to book a room with a king bed, since the standard rooms have double beds (POR has queens in the refurbished Mansion rooms).

Have you seen the refurbished rooms in Alligator Bayou at POR? I was never a fan of the AB rooms, but with the new refurbishments, the decor is very different and nice. I would actually consider requesting them next time. Pics are on portorleans.com and the POR FAQ thread.

I have stayed at both and I much prefer POR to CBR. POR theming is better, their food court is better, the layout of the resort is better and they also have king bed rooms that you can get. CBR felt very confusing to me and the decor is kind of cheesy. But that's my opinion.

After having stayed at both, I prefer CBR. The theming is just awesome. We really felt like we were on a tropical vacation. The main pool is awesome and I like the food court better than POR. You really can't go wrong with either resort, we just happen to like CBR a little bit more.

It's a matter of personal pref, as you can see! We have stayed at both, and while we enjoyed CBR very much, POR is our fav. moderate. We love the mansion section. In Aug we got one of the new rooms in Acadian House right next to the quiet pool, and river path. Bridge over to main pool and Food court/main building was just steps away :thumbsup2
Love the new rooms.
AB rooms don't appeal to me, i don't think they're that much different, the beds look exactly the same, only in Queen size now. Same twig type head board, etc.
IMO POR has more to offer, with the boat to DTD, evening entertainment in the Lounge, Horse & Carriage rides, and I like the food court at POR better! The landscapping is stunning.

So it's really a matter of what theming & amenities appeal to you. I have nothing bad to say about either resort.

Thank You everyone. I know it's mainly a theme preference, but the two places are pretty equal in that regard for me!

You know, Raglan Road is on the maybe list for dinner, so if we decide to eat there one night, that is a good point about the boat to DTD. I hadn't even thought about that! I've stayed at POFQ and really enjoyed the boat, just for a relaxing activity!

Yes, I've seen the refurbished rooms and I like them much better than the old ones, but I still much prefer the mansions.

The whole color scheme is different. Used to be very dark and "cabin-like" but now they are light colors, also with a new vanity and new hide-a-bed.

We stayed in a mansion refurbished room at POR in September and didn't find many difference. Noticed the paint/border job was a little shoddy and overall disappointed with the mansion refurb. This was in Acadian House. Regardless, I much prefer any section of POR over CBR.
