Hi everyone,

Just came across these threads about a year ago, and it was a great resource for my planning. Now, I've decided to join, and am excited! Can't say I'm a Disney newbie, with over 30+ trips under my belt going back to 1977, but each time I can use some new ideas.

I am heading down in December for my first trip during the holidays in a long time, and my hubby's first at that time of year. Since introducing him to WDW in 2005, he's still liking going, although admittedly...not his first choice for a vacay, but always is willing for it to be a quick, easy trip each year to keep me happy (good man!). Since taking him, we've stayed at POR, VWL, BCV, SSR and CBR. The only ones on that list he hasn't liked was SSR and CBR.

This year, we are flipping back and forth between POR and BWI and possibly YC. We thought we may want to upgrade to a deluxe for the holiday time, and want to know if it's worth it. I can't remember all the holiday displays, and would think BWI would be a great place at this time of year.

Money is an issue, but not the primary issue. I know I'll spend more at a Deluxe and am prepared for it. Just not sure it's totally worth it, but since it's the holidays, it might just make it more special. I also should mention that we are sans kids...just the two of us.

TIA!

We stayed at BWVillas in December of 2012. We were in a 1BR, had a spiral pull-up tree and decorations. We put the tree in front of the balcony door so you could see it from the waterway to DHS.

But, staying there didn't make it more or less Christmas-y for us. The room decorations could have been anywhere. But, what did make it great was the proximity to DHS. We had an AP so we could run there almost every evening to check out the Osborne Lights. They are SO worth it that staying close to DHS is a great advantage, so I would definitely recommend BWI or Yacht Club. We've stayed at both and really love BW but Yacht Club is really nice too.

The one thing you'll deal with at those resorts is the constant traffic of people coming to see your resort. They'll be on your transportation and clog up the lobby every time you walk through on your way to and from your destination.

I always recommend Fort Wilderness for Christmas. The decorations there are awesome, the campers do up their campsites. I have heard that they are restricting the campers use of electricity, but I'm sure they'll still do it nice, just not as over the top.

Thanks Sharadoc! I hadn't thought of all the people coming through! Granted that would be us, if we choose POR!

And yes, proximity to DHS is one of our factors. I LOVE Osborne and we are doing a dinner package for Candlelight Procesisonal and PM EMH at Epcot, so we thought it might be just one of those "better" fits for us this trip for an extra few hundred dollars.

Curious what others think too.

If it was just me and DH I would definitely do Boardwalk. I loved visiting there. We have stayed at POR and loved it but there's going to be plenty of families if that bothers you. I would stay at POFQ if I went that route.

Either would make me happy but I would love Boardwalk :).
