POR - FQ or Riverside Royal Room

For a difference of about $25 a night (but I need 2 rooms), I can get either. I am looking at easy /convenient to get to pool and lobby. My niece can walk small distances so to not have to use her wheelchair at the resort would be nice. I hear FQ is small but the royal rooms are preferred but that Riverside is really big. This is for December. Thanks

The lobby and pool at POFQ are close together and central to the resort.
Everything at POR is spread out. You’ll need to cross a bridge to get to the lobby and a different bridge to get to the main pool. There is a quiet pool near the Royal rooms though.

I’d choose POFQ if you need to walk shorter distances.
As a bonus at POFQ, the Christmas decorations and jazzy Christmas music make it a perfect resort to stay at in December.

This is just my opinion so take it for what it is worth........the Royal Rooms are TIRED. I stayed in one in August for 1 night sandwiched between 2 stays (family and then girl's trip) in the Alligator Bayou section. They actually had moved my friends and I to the Royal Room for our entire stay as they had some issue with the original room they assigned and were trying to keep me from having to switch rooms 90 times. But after my one solo night prior to them arriving, I requested we be moved to AB. If your niece is young, she may love it. For me......it just felt really old and dated compared to the rooms in Alligator Bayou. My daughter is a CM and has us booked for Royal Rooms for an upcoming trip because they were at an amazing price, but I am REALLY hoping they will move us.

We had a Royal room with a river view. As the above poster stated - the rooms are tired. They haven't received an upgrade in ages. They don't have any USB outlets. There are very few regular outlets. The room was pretty but the lack of outlets was very annoying.

For less walking and beautifully renovated room, POFQ is the obvious choice.

POR is extremely spread out. And another thing to consider is that POR has multiple internal bus stops before leaving for the parks. POFQ has only one bus stop and only shares with POR on rare occasions--and never at peak times.

I've never stayed in a Royal Room so I can't comment on that.

FQ remains our favorite moderate resort. It's beautiful and the beignets are Disney's best treat. Everything is convenient.

Just an FYI, POR Magnolia Bend rooms (Royal is located here) are under renovation which I believe started in May, to be finished in February. Not sure what the plan is for Royal rooms, there are RUMORS there will be less of them when done?

If walking is an issue than FQ would be the better choice but I would also note in your reservation close to main hub. There are still rooms at FQ that are quite the walk to the main hub such as BLDG 1 and 7. Some in 7 are almost closer to POR bus stop. Or I would probably book Pool or Preferred View.
