POR - Connecting Rooms

Heading down to WDW next week and staying @ POR. I am getting 2 rooms and requested they be connecting. Anyone know if these are only in designated buildings? Which building would be best for toddler short walk to meals and older kids quick access to gameroom area by themselves? Also, I'm a newbie here - please explain what DS, DD, etc. mean when you talk about family??

They are probably throughout the resort. We just had them in building 15 this month. We have almost always had connecting rooms at many different resorts (four kids-two rooms a must) and have never had a problem getting them. Also, I have never read anything here on the boards to lead me to believe that there are only a few a each resort. Hope this helps! Have a great time!
