POR...charge back to room

I am new to message board..hopeful someone can answer my questions. We are arriving at POR on the 25th and have been reading about "charge back" to the room. We have never stayed in the park and do not know if this is something that would be beneficial for our family. Can someone explain it to me?

When you check-in, you can leave a credit card on file with the front desk (you can leave cash on account too I believe). They then setup your room key to also act as a charge card that can be used anywhere on Disney property for almost anything - food, stores, etc.

A limit is set depending on the level of resort - value $500, moderate $1000, deluxe $1500. When you hit the limit, you need to call or go to the front desk to authorize more.

This makes it convenient to charge everything to your room and you need to carry very little cash. I usually carry $10 or so for odds and ends such as soda etc.
