POR building closings/painting, etc...

I have been reading about POR buildings being closed for painting, and then the rehab schedule on WDWinfo says that the mansions are currently closed. Can anyone confirm? Seems a little odd to close down a whole section of POR with CBR closing for the fall. Plus, DH and I were hoping to get a room in the mansion section in a few weeks.

From what I understand the painting was done when the mansion buildings were closed last winter... perhaps the site just hasn't been updated, as I wouldn't think that they would close both CBR and the mansions at the same time, either.

OK, I went to that site... much of that stuff needs to be updated! All they have done is added new, but not deleted ancient.

1. Caribbean Beach- Sep. 6 through December--- yes, this is new, and accurate
2. Disney Institute - Only 62 Bungalows are available to book at this time. All Fairway, Treehouse and Grand Villas are closed till further notice. --- Also, true and accurate
3. Port Orleans Riverside - Only Alligator Bayou buildings are open right now - Magnolia Bend closed indefinitely---Not true, or accurate. Magnolia Bend reopened in the spring, and is not scheduled to close again.
4. Port Orleans French Quarter - closed indefinitely---reopened for business the end of May... not scheduled to close... very inaccurate
5. Yacht Club Galley - closed indefinitely---Closed right now, but scheduled to reopen in the future. No date given yet!
6. Pop Century Resort - Under construction opening date has been delayed twice. No open date available.---No word on when or if this resort will open. According to some CM's it may be sold to an outside company... construction continues, but in a very slow manner. Wouldn't count on it anytime soon!
7. Beach Club DVC Villas- under construction. Target open date is September 2002 --- Sales started in June, and the villas are on time!

No word on when or if this resort will open. According to some CM's it may be sold to an outside company... construction continues, but in a very slow manner. Wouldn't count on it anytime soon!

We were told when we were there last week, that hard opeing is in April, soft opening before then. When we asked about a room there, we were told they are taking limited ressies now. Signage is up at AK (maybe more places)..so I know where the line for the bus is for Pop Century. I saw a lot more excitement from bus drivers, and cm's this trip, as it seems it's really going to happen (POP opening)!! I personally think the place looks fun, and they've done a ton more work on since we were there in May.
