First time popup camper here. I've always tagged along with family who had trailers and we stayed on full hookup sites. I'm thinking about staying at one of the partial hookup loops and wondering if they have water but no sewer, where does your grey water go?

Hey Doogan,

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but it is my assumption that you need to have a water tank to collect your grey water. I believe you are allowed to dispose of the water at an empty site with sewer.

That's right, you must collect it. FL law prohibits dumping grey water on the ground. You can also take it to the comfort station and pour it into the toilet.

Or collect it and pour it in the utility sink at the Laundry.

Thanks for the answers! I've seen the small storage tanks. I would think that would work well for me.

Does anyone have a low cost solution for a grey water holding tank? I need to get one for our trip to the Fort in May.

5 Gal bucket with a pour-spout lid from the Home Depot? Under $15.

7 gallon Aqua-Tainers from Wal Mart work great. They are in the camping section.

Thanks for promoting where I work, Shan!! :thumbsup2

You can also get just a plain ol' Homer Bucket for $3.97+tx. 5 gallons & just dump it in the utility sink in the laundry room. They come in handy for a lot of other things, too.

The problem with my pop-up (if there is one) is that the drain pipe from the kitchen sink is down below the frame so it is very low to the ground and a bucket is all that will fit under it. The Aquatote is too tall - I'm considering using one of those clear, soft-sided vinyl 5g water bags that I can tape a hose to the spout and hook it up to the drain.

Yep, at the Fort and all other campgrounds, catch the gray water somehow and dispose of it in a proper drain.

hey ya'll!! Help a 'tent' camper out! what the heck are these different colored waters ya'll are talking about, and why are you dumping them in the toilet? is it sewage?

On a TT or MH with holding tanks, there are two. One is grey water for shower & sinks to drain into, the other is black for "industrial/nuclear" waste - otherwise known as pee & poop.

I might be wrong because it's been a long time since I've looked at pop-up's, but I don't believe they have any built in holding tanks. Neither do some of the smaller TT's. You have to have your own grey water collection container. For the other - you can use a chemical or portable toilet, which you manually have to dump into a toilet - or just use the comfort station - which ever you can get to quicker when you get the urge!!:dance3:
