Poppy Ran Me Over With His Scooter - A PHM Trip Report UPDATE!! 7/23 Pg. 21

Nice start! Gotta love AKL! Did you buy into DVC or is it just your parents, I can't remember? Yeah, having an option of a second bed in the studios would be nice.

I understand that concern about judgement. Because there is definitely a lot of that going on. I remember reading a TR about a young woman who had just had heart surgery and had to be in a wheelchair at WDW. She looked young and healthy and could get up for limited periods and appear fine. So, of course, some people would question their motives and such. I always try to remember that appearances aren't everything. Glad people were good to you guys. :goodvibes

Oh no on the Blue Mickey of Death!

I do love AKL! It's my parents that own DVC, they just allow me to use it freely.

I so wish that there was a second bed in the studios, but we all enjoy the bang for our buck logic with DVC, so we don't get larger rooms generally.

Oh man, I wish I had your make-up skills! I usually only wear eyeliner and mascara and its all smuged by lunch time lol

I always hate seeing judgy people when it comes to the scooters. I wish I could remind them that 9 times out of 10 the people in those scooters whole heartedly wish they could stand in the regular line and walk around the park on their own. The truth is unless its an obviously visible injury, we don't know why these people need the scooters, and we shouldnt be so quick to judge. I'm glad you met some kind people to restore your faith in humanity :)

Thanks so much! It's just been practice over time really.

I do too, but I also know that I've been stupid and judged people incorrectly as well, so it's also shown me something in a different light too.

Ooooooh! You have me all kinds of excited to stay at AKL this November. Our first time trying deluxe/DVC. We're renting points at a studio to see if we like it. We'll be doing standard view.

Yeah, I wondered if they were comfortable. For anyone over probably 12 I can't imagine that being the best place to rest after a long day at the parks!

OOH! I need to find you and follow you. Your SSE makeup looks so good.

I admit, I used to slightly judge people, too. But I always think to myself, you never know their situation. They could be a veteran, someone who had surgery, someone with cancer, or even someone with a bad knee. You never know! Although last fall we encountered a couple that had been drinking and scootering. Beers in hand, shouting for people to get out of their way.. not sure if that's proper scooter etiquette, lol.

NOOO. Not guest services! We had to go there a few weeks ago and it took us like 45 minutes by the time we got through the line, talked to the GS people, and were free to go into the park. :crazy2:

AKL is one of my favorites, you're going to enjoy it I think.

Exactly right on the judging. I've been there before, and I don't want to go back to that.

That pic of Pop is awesome!! I would totally feel the same way about being in Disney a day early!

Loved that makeup look!

Love all the pictures from the hotel. A new camera is always fun to play with!

Aww that was sweet of those people to offer to help with Pop's scooter!

Pebkac- too funny!

Blue Mickey?? Ugh hope it didn't take too long to resolve!

I know, getting there a day early is always a plus! To be honest, that's how I always feel when I end up in Disney. LOL.

The new camera has definitely been fun to play with. I really enjoy it and I'm glad that I bought it.

Nice pics with your new camera!

I think I said the exact same thing about your makeup and the PHM. :rotfl2:

If I ever need a scooter I can guarantee you that the driving and parking will NOT go well.

OMG - that IT phrase. I already forget it, but it is too funny! And, sadly, it refers to me. Denny would love that. :rotfl: Anytime I can't troubleshoot my computer he sarcastically says "google it". :faint:

Nice that your parents were able to arrive early. Good for them!

Thanks!

Hahaha, if I could run the PHM and my makeup would still look like that, it would be a great day. But, that's definitely not the case. It would be a mess!

Jason and I use the Pebkac phrase all of the time. It just cracks me up, and it's so true on so many levels!

Waking up in Disney - especially that first morning when you have your entire trip ahead of you - is a great feeling.

Interesting that in the DVD studios they do a pullout couch vs. the fold down type beds they have in the Contemporary or the POR Bayou rooms. Guess those are only single beds so that is why, but they are link normal beds so pretty comfortable. Heck, they could do a murphy bed type thing like at the AoA suites.

Can definitely understand where you are coming from as far as how people might look at your dad in the scooter - especially in a scenario like the one you had where there was the issue with the bus lift and it was delaying things. Glad to hear that right off the bat people were nice about it and put your fears at rest a bit. I'd like to think that as long as you are conscious of the impact it could have on others and take your time etc. - vs. using the scooter as a battering ram to get through crowds and shouting out things like "move people I get to go to the front of the line!" most people would be polite about things

Sounds like a really nice family you met on the bus - and a nice way to start of the day with a complement like that :thumbsup2

Oh, no - blue Mickey of death! Hope it was a quick fix and guess it could have happened at a worse time (if you were trying to make an ADR time or something)

It is! It's actually the main reason that I like to fly in at night. I prefer to wake up to a fresh new day in Disney.

The DVC studios have been changing over time. They are putting murphy beds in to the new studios, in addition to the pull out couch. I haven't tried one yet, but I know they're in the Wilderness Lodge, the GFV, and Polynesian villas.

The family we met on the bus was really nice. It was a great way to start the trip.

Very true. The blue Mickey could have arrived at a terrible time, but thankfully we didn't have an ADR for a few hours.

Our times may be different, but we both cross that finish line the same!!! I'm excited to hear you're doing the half in January - I hope to finally meet you then! :yay:

Very true.

Yes, I hope to meet you then too! I'm excited about it. My registration date opens up on the 14th.

UGH your makeup just destroys my world (in a good way):worship: Now that I've stepped up my maekups game (read I've gone from 1 eye shadow to 6) I need to step up my brush game!!! Also I just got a "pro" camera too and lemme tell those things make a WORLD of difference. I was planning on doing a neverending TR before but now I'm totes going to make the time to do it so I can put all my photos to use besides just for my own entertainment. Lastly I HATE the blue Mickey I always seem to get it when the BF never does. One time the guy told me to use the other finger even though I said I used the right one o_O10 mins later and using my "good" finger again it finally worked!

Another great update as usual

Thanks so much! Hahaha, 1 eyeshadow to 6! Listen, when you don't buy it a lot, that's a big step. I know, the camera makes a huge difference! I've loved having clearer pictures in general, but now I have to get used to the settings, because it's not as intuitive as the iPhone camera is. But, the pictures turn out significantly better.

Loving your first day so far! That resort looks gorgeous, it is on my short list of places to stay!

I am the kind of person that LOVES talking to other people around me, whether it be on elevators, busses, whatever. And especially at Disney. It just warms my little heart that people are still open to conversation and can be so understanding. I wish there were WAY more of that!!

Thanks! AKL is a great resort. My Mom and Dad strike up conversations with people all of the time, so I get pulled into the conversation that way. Not that I don't like to talk to new people, they're just more natural at it than I am. Haha!

Blue Mickey of Death! Simultaneously saying "Ha!" and "Oh no!"

For real though.

I love all of the hotel pictures! The new camera seems to be a great purchase! (And a good thing for me to read, too - I'm in the market for a new camera that will take better pictures than my current one but still fit in my pocket, and this Sony a5000 looks like a good candidate for that ...)

The Spaceship Earth makeup look is great ... but that's a lot of makeup brushes for one person.

I think there definitely are judgy people out there (I've also been one of them sometimes), but the vast majority of people are not judgy (or at least not in a way that the person being judged can tell). There are a lot of really considerate and helpful people out there, and I'm glad you encountered some of them on your first morning with scooter!

Pebkac ... I love that term. I deal with that a lot ... people.

The blue Mickey ... I had that once. Lots of fun. Although in my case they just called over someone with an iPad ... I wonder why she had to go to guest services outside? I guess I'll find out in the next update ...

Thanks! It was a great purchase. It's not small enough though to fit in your pocket. It has lenses and everything, so I still have to carry it around my neck in the park, but it is a great deal smaller than a DSLR.

In my defense, I do use all of those makeup brushes. LOL. It's difficult for some to understand, but they have a function. But if you're not a huge makeup freak like me, a few brushes is all you would need.

Long time lurker, first time commenting on one of your TRs. I gotta say your TRs are my absolute favorite! They hold my Disney obsession at bay until my next trip for my honeymoon in May :-)

Thank you so much! And yay for your honeymoon in May!

yep I got the Blue Mickey. I did have a cast member come with an Ipad but he couldn't help..... I will let Danielle do the explaining about that one. It was really nice of everyone to be so patient with all the bus problems. I know for myself I will not judge when I see people in scooters. You never know what the problem is for sure.

Now that we look bad on it, it's actually pretty funny.

I've always wondered why more of the DVC studios don't have 2 queen beds. It's prevented me from renting points on several occassions because I don't want to be the person banishing their loved one (ie: mother) to a pull out sofa.

Your new camera takes really nice pictures. The lobby looks so crisp. I just love the AKL lobby...

People can be ignorant at times, but I'm glad those kind of folks weren't at the Epcot bus stop. Everybody's got a story, and if peope had half a brain they'd consider that most people don't willingly want to be confined to a scooter. It's not like they set out wanting to take a Disney trip that involved constantly avoiding running into people or things, having to go as slow as the mob in front of you, and having to potentially wait for a second bus to come.

Your Spaceship Earth makeup is really cute! I love the theme choice too, very creative!

Haha, yup I'm always the one that is banished to the pull out. Some resorts they're more comfortable, and others not so much.

I'm really happy with the pictures from my new camera. Definitely a great purchase for me.

I was really happy that the people at the bus stop weren't ignorant either. They were so nice and willing to help us if we needed it. Thankfully we didn't, but it was really nice of them to offer.

Thanks!

Snow storms this year??? I'm sure it was a false alarm. But yup, Popadon off to a great start.. Pink MB and all!!!

Just one time I want to stay in a room with a couch. I don't even care if I use the couch... I just want the option. Apparently not for sleeping though.

I love picture taking too, but since the only time I seem to actually pull out the camera is in Disney, kinda hard to justify something pricey. Clearly your purchase was a good one as your photos are wonderfully detailed.

I totally understand the feeling when travelling with a scooter. I think all of us have had encounters but it's a really different perspective when it's you or your group. That is so nice to have people like that wanting to help right out of the gate. :goodvibes

Oh lord, whenever I think of scooter drivers, I think of the Mime at Seawworld. He likes to imply that some may be indulging and driving. Hysterical. :drinking1:car:

Aww yay!!! So many people fail to realize the awesomeness of talking to people on Disney buses. This is one of the unheralded special treasures I think.

I know! Snow storms, who knew right? He's all about his pink magic band.

The couch is great! To sit on. Not to sleep on. Haha!

Thankfully, that camera wasn't pricey, especially when I compared it to DSLR's that are on the market.

It was really nice of them to want to help us. I was grateful that we met people that were so nice.

Drinking and driving a scooter. I may have actually done that on this trip. :rolleyes1

Awesome eye makeup!

I love talking to random people at WDW...it's like they're not really strangers, since we have a common WDW bond.

Thanks so much!

I agree, chatting with people in WDW is totally different than chatting with strangers at home.

I always love your "Disney makeup" looks. :worship:

What beautiful pictures of the Kidani Village lobby!

I'm glad you didn't run into issues with the scooter and reactions from others - I think most people tend to be understanding. :goodvibes Those that aren't - to heck with 'em!

Oh, dear, the infamous blue Mickey...:sad2:

Thanks so much! I like creating them, but sometimes it gets hard not to repeat!

Most people definitely were understanding. And if they weren't, I wasn't aware of it, so that was good.

Great pictures with your new camera!:thumbsup2

I agree with you on the people being so judgy. I have a hidden "special need". My tailbone was fractured twice and leaves me with lower back pain and arthritis frequently. There are times where I'm unable to stand or even walk for long periods of time. And we all know how much walking and standing we can easily do at WDW. After renting a wheelchair to help me navigate through the park, I too got those judgy stares. A few times I just told the person staring/judging me that I'm fine on the outside, it's the inside that has had a twice fractured tailbone that causes lower back pain and has arthritis that settled in and easily flares up. But, hey, I'd LOVE to trade places with you and be able to stand and walk without being in pain. ;)Totally shot them down. So nice to see that there are still some really nice, compassionate people wanting to help your Pop out with his scooter!!! :thumbsup2

Oh NO!! The dreaded Blue Mickey.

Thanks! I love my new camera.

I have a close friend of mine with Fibromyalgia, and it's a similar thing for her. No one would know by looking at her that she has it, but she tires easily when walking for long periods of time.

I've read a couple of your trip reports and don't think I have ever commented! But I did want to pop in and let you know how much I enjoy them! Your family seem like incredibly sweet and fun people. Also, your makeup looks are AMAZING! I'm a bit makeup obsessed, and the looks your do are so intricate and lovely.

Congrats on the weight loss and the half marathon! I am planning on registering in September for the next one! Can't wait to be a part of your experience!

(Do you think I used enough exclamation points? sheesh!)

Well then welcome to commenting! I'm glad you decided to on this one. And I'm very glad that you enjoy reading my TR's.

Thanks so much for the compliment on the makeup! Believe me, I'm nothing even in comparison to some of those people out there on YouTube and stuff, it's crazy!

Awesome! Running the half was definitely an amazing experience.

That is why I couldn't stay in a studio. Have you thought about bringing an inflatable twin bed? We have a couple of them for when family visits and they seem really nice.

I work in downtown Chicago and it is really tempting to judge the people who stand on an escalator instead of walk or take the elevator to go up one floor. But when I hurt my knee and could hardly bend it, I became a person who had to stand on the escalator instead of walk, and take the elevator to go up one floor. But that lady who parks in the handicap parking space at my commuter parking lot, she is a different matter.

This is great! I'm in charge of IT at work which basically means that I know when to call the IT people and I know when I can fix it myself. And in our small office of ten people, there is always one person who is a pebkac. And every problem they have is ALWAYS the computer's fault, the server's fault, or a problem with the software even though everyone else has no problem at all. :upsidedow

What was going on in February? :confused3 We had a problem with our tickets, too. DH's annual pass didn't work even though it had worked fine the prior month. The tickets that I purchased for our son and grandsons didn't work, either and we had to go to guest relations. At least we got a fp that was good for any ride we wanted to go on. But what a pain. Your trip report is the second one I have read with ticket problems during this time period.

I was hoping that the guy with the iPad could help us, too. I didn't want to go in that long guest relations line.

I'm not a huge fan of inflatables, which is why we don't bring them. I'm okay dealing with the bed for the week we're there. But I do know that a lot of people use that as an option too.

Oooooohhh, that's irritating when people park in the handicap space and shouldn't! So frustrating.

There's always someone with pebkac, I'm telling you! So irritating.

The story with my Mom's ticket is actually humorous. We just still don't know how it happened.

Love, love, love your makeup. You've clearly got some skill and omg those brushes. Who knew you needed something more than the 1 inch double sided fancy applicator that comes with my eye shadow ; )

Let me know where to sign up for pops scooter course. never to early to learn to scoot from the master ; )

Thank you so much! I now, who knew that there was more in this world than the spongey applicator thingy! (In my house, basically any of those tiny stupid brushes/sponges go in the garbage immediately. LOL).

He will pass his scooter skills on to you grasshopper.

Loving the Popadon Pictures being so excited to be in WDW. I almost spit out my drink when I first hear about the Scooter Tutor. :rotfl2:

I had the blue Mickey head too. I had a bad band this past trip. I think they put the code in wrong when they sent it because they had to totally redo it. Luckily at the gate I had my card ticket so that let me in.

Love the makeup. :goodvibes

I know, scooter tutor! But you got to hear it live, I only got to hear about it afterwards, because I was at a separate table when he was telling you guys about it.

Yeah, we tried to have Mom use her ticket and they still wouldn't let her in. The story will reveal all.

Oh your Pop, such a happy fellow.

I'm sorry the pull out situation is no fun.

That is a lot of brushes, but you can't argue with your results.

AKL is so beautiful and you got some great pictures.

People can be really great sometimes and I'm glad you got to meet some of them who were so nice.

Not the blue Mickey of death! I got that several times my last trip.

He definitely is a happy chap.

I will admit wholeheartedly that it is a lot of brushes. And that isn't even all that I own. They're the ones I use the most. :rolleyes1

Your makeup is amazing. This has to be my favorite look you've done. I wished I was as talented, I'm lucky if I can just get one shade of eye shadow onto my eyelid:rotfl2:. I have to say, I totally understand your fear about the scooter. People can be so judgmental especially when the scooter makes them wait for the bus. I am glad you ran into nice, understanding people.

Thank you so much! I just enjoy playing around with the looks.

They really can, and I was nervous about that component of our trip, with the buses, but it all worked out in the end.

I'm here! (Finally!)

Yay! I'm so glad!

First of all, this is AMAZING. You go girl!! I have so much respect for people like you who take responsibility and actively make changes :goodvibes

Also, I totally understand how hard it is getting into running! The first time I went for a run on the treadmill, I completely messed up my knees, and I could hardly walk for the next two weeks! Once you've experienced all the aches and pains it can be difficult to find the motivation to face the treadmill again. I'm so happy you were able to persevere and run the Princess Half!!!! Congratulations :goodvibes

Thank so much! I still have a ways to go and have been in a bit of a lull, but I'm getting out of it thankfully.

I've had injuries before too and it's always a struggle! I didn't do as well with the half as I wanted, but it was also my first one, so I made sure not to put too high of expectations on it.

OK. Why isn't there a Jelly Belly factory near my house? That sounds amazing, I would be there every day :thumbsup2

It can be tempting. The depressing part is that they're going to try to move it! To Tennessee. Jerks.

Errrgh. This is not ideal :rotfl: This reminds me of when I was on the Hogwarts Express (a totally normal occurence in my life ) - we were cramped into the tiny little compartments and the guy sat next to me sat with his legs spread SO wide. The worst part - we were both wearing shorts, so his sweaty hairy leg was literally TOUCHING my bare skin. :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2: PERSONAL SPACE PEOPLE.

Haha, right! I know what you mean about the Hogwarts Express! But ugh touching your bare skin. That's just terrible. Why don't people understand personal space!

Hahaha! This perfectly sums up arrival day :goodvibes

I have some serious brush envy right now. (If that wasn't a thing before, it is now.) I've been searching everywhere for some new brushes that are nice but not ridiculously expensive. Do you have any brands you recommend?!

Brush envy, that's hilarious. We'll make it a thing. I have a variety, but my favorites are Sigma Beauty (online only), and Real Techniques. Real Techniques brushes are actually from the Pixiwoo sisters, who are UK bloggers, in case you weren't aware. LOL. I assume people aren't as crazy as I am with makeup. I believe that they're sold in Boots by you. Or Superdrug. And if I'm wrong on that, I apologize. Haha! Real Techniques is a little more affordable than Sigma, but Sigma has a larger variety. Not terribly expensive.

Congratulations on your perfect wing!!!!:lovestruc Love the Spaceship Earth theme, and your blue eyes are amazing!

Man, I'm telling you, the perfect wing is a pain in my buttocks, that's what it is!

Great photos! I'm eating at Boma in September, I can't wait to visit AKL for the first time :goodvibes

Boma is one of my favorites! When in September are you going? :)

This sounds like a really nice exchange. I've read some horror stories on the boards about rude people in these situations. But I like to think that people publicize the negative stories MUCH more than the positive. Like, no one's really going to start a new thread saying "Hey, we encountered some nice people today who didn't judge me for being in a scooter." But those who occasionally experience someone rude do like to vent about it. So I hope it's just disproportionately misrepresented :thumbsup2 I'm glad you came across nice, understanding people :goodvibes

Wow, that blue sky! :cloud9:

Great updates Danielle, I'm looking forward to hearing more!

It was a nice way to start the trip, so it restored my faith in people. I'm glad they were so nice to us.

I love chatting with nice people on buses! It just makes it more magical!

Me too! I hate quiet bus rides.

:worship:You my girl, are amazing! You have always been beautiful but now you're beautiful AND healthy! Second, my team does the same thing when I go on vacation, so much so, that when I read your comments I laughed out loud! They made me promise to never leave them for 3 weeks again!

Thanks so so much! That's so nice of you to say!

My team does that all the time. They never like it when I leave, because my boss just freaks out about everything!

People judge very quickly so I completely understand your apprehension about your dad and the scooter! I have a friend who has MS and people make comments all the time! Sad really!
On a happy note...Can't believe I get to see you in May!!!!!!!! :hyper2:

It is sad, isn't it?

I can't believe I get to see you too! You have no idea how I freaked out when I found that out!

Awe a new TR! I probably have missed the others...I'm so far behind I can't even remember! I'm trying to get back in the DisBoards groove! Props to Popadon and being a trooper on the scooter! And...every once in a while, humanity can redeem itself!

No worries at all! Just read when you can, it's all good. :)

Loving your TR so far!! Firstly, your skill with makeup is inspiring...I can barely put on mascara. I can't wait to hear more about the run too. My hubby is a marathoner...I've done a few 5K's and hope to one day do more. Running at Disney would be amazing though. And how cool that you have a whole team of people there with you!! Looking forward to hearing all about it all!

Thanks so much!

Running at Disney is absolutely amazing. Such a fun experience, even though there were points on the half marathon that I definitely wasn't thinking it was a fun experience.

Hi :wave2: long time lurker first time poster! I have followed along with your other trip reports from the shadows of lurkerdom but I just wanted to pop up and say hi. I love your reports they are fab. Your transformation is so inspiring I almost went running! I'm not a fan of running as a rule unless I'm being chased or there is a designer shoe sale :rolleyes1...but seriously major kudos you look great. Plus your makeup looks are epic and I wish I had some of your skills (and brushes! Super jelly) :worship:

I'm glad you've come out of lurkdom!

Haha, I totally understand, I used to not be into running before either, and it's definitely not for everyone.

Woot Woot:woohoo:I'm following one of your TRs as it happens, so I'm officially saying hi :wave2:! Found your November one a couple months ago and have been reading thru all the old ones too... love your writing style, thanks for helping me get thru the never.ending.winter :goodvibes

Yay, hi! I'm so glad that you're here.

For real though. It's really the never-ending winter, isn't it? So annoying!

I'm JUST catching up with your TR now! Your dad is looking great - I'm so glad he was able to join you on the trip!

I felt the same way you did when I started running - I thought I was going to collapse!

Can't wait to read more!

Lissette

I'm so glad he was able to come on the trip too. It wouldn't have been the same without him.

P.S. I better see you at the 24 hour party woman!

Haha, your dad was just SO happy to be in WDW, it's awesome! So glad he was able to go on this trip with you!

I love the DVC studios, but you're right, if you're stuck sleeping on the pull out sofa, it's annoying, they are horribly uncomfortable.

Your makeup looks amazing!

I love your pictures, I might have to check out that camera! I bought a camera for my September trip last year and I hated it, but maybe I should just research how to use it a little more...:rolleyes1

Oh no, the blue Mickey, not a great way to start the day!

He was so happy! I was so glad for him, since the past weeks hadn't been good for him.

Yeah, the pull out is never fun, but I just consider that being in Disney is better than the alternative of not, so I suck it up. Haha.

That camera is just sophisticated enough for me. It has interchangeable lenses, and I think it was a good starter. I'm really glad I got it. It's better than a point and shoot, and it's a step down from a DSLR.

I am excited to read your report! I read your last TR (I may not have commented? I can't remember. I do just read reports sometimes without saying anything- I'm not as clever as some other DISers!)

I am really looking forward to this one as my DH and I have been talking about running one of WDW's 1/2 marathons and can't wait to hear your experience! I've only been running casually (and very slowly!) when the weather is nice here in New England, but did make it up to about 6 miles last year before the fall got too cold!!

I'm glad you're here! And please feel free to comment, I'm sure you're just as clever. I love all comments!

You definitely need to try a half at Disney. So amazing and such a great experience.

Just wanted to say hi and that I'm in! Your story is inspiring! I'm not a runner at all but it makes me want to get out there try. Also, you met some awesome Disney people, that's magic right there. Can't wait to read more!

Thanks so much! You're right, it is nice to meet awesome Disney people. I have so many amazing Disney friends.

I am so impressed that you ran the PHM! I hope to do it myself someday.

You look amazing! Running agreed with you! I did my first 5K last October after completing Couch 2 5K, but I didn't lose any weight!

Thanks! It's a great experience.

I'm slowing making my away around and trying to catch up. Impossible I tell you.

I love your Spaceship Earth inspired make-up. And I agree with the bus people...you look lovely.

I had no doubt that Popadon would be a pro at the scooter the day he got it.

Oh no...the Mickey bluehead. :(

I know, it's difficult to catch up sometimes.

Awww, thanks so much.

Yeah, I knew he would be an expert too. His motorcycle skills definitely came in handy.

Dang, Danielle! This TR is at page 9, and this is the first time I've seen it. I cannot keep up with you, your many trips, and your multiple TRs. I'm going to try to at least keep up with this one. Until you go on another one and start another TR, wash and repeat..... :rotfl2:

:faint:

I think it's wonderful, Danielle! You should be so proud of yourself!!!!

So happy to see Pop feeling good and back at WDW!!! :goodvibes

Awww - this is so sweet. I'm glad that you had such positive experiences with people's attitudes toward the scooter (at least on this first day). :goodvibes

I have two problems. I take too many trips, and I write my TR's too slow! I wish I would write faster! It's just difficult. LOL. In any case, I'm glad you're here!

And we wouldn't want anything less!

Agreed. GCV is 2 beds I think...although now I am not positive. Some of the pullouts seem better than others. the GCV 1 bedroom pullout and the AKV chair win the worst with my crew so far.

Very true, some pullouts are better. AKV and SSR are pretty bad. BWV was good, so I'm curious about BCV. Even though I'm making my bro sleep on that one. Haha!

Love it! But my word, that IS a lot of brushes! You always look amazing.

Hello, my name is Danielle and I'm addicted to makeup brushes. Hi Danielle!

I would not want you to go all mama bear, that frightens me just thinking about it! LOL

I
LOVE
THIS!

New term. Totally stealing it.

See, you know! You know you don't want to see that. Haha!

You are welcome to steal it, because it applies to oh so much.

It's true! Oh my, did you read Andy's update not that long ago about the woman driving smack into a column near HM?

I'd be scared to be anywhere near ME driving a scooter, that much I know. I won't drive a golf cart!

Such a lovely morning to be followed by the blue Mickey of Death. Poor Ann had the same thing and a similar result if memory servers....

I did not, but I am not surprised by that ONE BIT! We saw a lady get out of the chair, and make the bus driver drive it on the bus. Seriously? And you want to drive this thing around a park filled with thousands.

Ugh, blue Mickey of stupid is more like it.

Hey girl!!! Sorry I missed the beginnings of this one, but obviously I'm on board!

The family is adorable as always. Troy's face is so round! BABIESSSS. And I'm so happy Popadon could make the trip.

Wooo AKL! I just booked Boma for the weekend before I check into my DCP, so I'll be visiting that resort for the first time and I can't wait!

LOVE that Spaceship Earth look.

Aww that family was too sweet to say such nice things to you!! Definitely would've made my day.

No worries at all! I'm still totally freaking out about the fact that you're going to do the DCP!

He has the perfect little round head! I got some great photos of him on this trip.

Yayayayay Boma! Love that restaurant.

It certainly made my day and embarrassed me at the same time.

Wonderful start to your TR! And CONGRATULATIONS on all of your accomplishments! I'm thinking about getting started in running this summer, and I hope to be as successful as you! :worship:

If you don't mind my asking, how did you get such an awesome boarding position on Southwest? We are flying Southwest on Saturday, and would love to get into the lower A section!

Thanks so much! If you want to start running, start now. Spring is the PERFECT time to start, the weather is just perfect for running. Summer it gets tougher, because heat makes it more difficult. Just be patient and stick to it, and you'll do great! And remember you'll have good runs and terrible runs! They're all normal.

I don't mind at all! I purchase Early Bird Check In every time I fly. I like to secure a good boarding position with having to get on exactly 24 hours in advance. This was the best position I've ever gotten, but normally I'm in the low 20's.

Real Techniques brushes are actually from the Pixiwoo sisters, who are UK bloggers, in case you weren't aware. LOL. I assume people aren't as crazy as I am with makeup. I believe that they're sold in Boots by you. Or Superdrug.

Good info, thanks!!! I haven't heard of them, but maybe I'll check them out :thumbsup2
Boots and Superdrug stores are everywhere over here, so I'll have a look :goodvibes

When in September are you going? :)

I'll be in WDW September 22nd - October 6th! Will you be around?!

Awww man! I'm going from September 4th - 9th.

"I Swear, She Didn't Steal It!"

We last left off with Momma getting the blue Mickey of death when she tried to enter Epcot for the day. Pop and I were already on the other side of the floating Mickeys. Mom, not so much. I didn't realize at first that it happened, and I started walking in to take some pictures. I look back and she's talking to the guy at the entrance. She was trying to pull out her pass to scan that instead, but they said that she couldn't do that, she needed to go up to Guest Relations outside of the park.

Okay then. Well, since Pop and I were clearly not going anywhere, I popped a squat far over to the right of the entrance and Pop wheeled over.

Thankfully, it didn't take Mom too long to get it squared away. Soon she was coming back to the entrance and heading into the park. I had waved at her to let her know where we were. Of course, we're a bunch of dorks, so my waving at her to let her know where we were consisted of me acting like a dang fool and screaming in her general direction.

(I'm sorry, I had to use this GIF. It's a true representation of how people react to me when I'm obnoxious).

Mom finally makes it inside and I asked her what happened. Apparently, her magic band was listed as stolen! Which the CM at Guest Relations said was really weird. And since it was listed as stolen, they wouldn't allow her to use her pass, which didn't make sense to me. Mom say that the CM's at the entrance were not very nice to her. She said they were shouting at her "put the Mickey to Mickey!" She's like "I AM IT'S TURNING BLUE!" Then the guy with the iPad came over, he scanned it and just goes "you have to go over there!"

I told her that they were treating her that way because they thought she stole it!

Shady Momma I'm telling you. Dang Criminal.

Pop decided at this point that he wanted to walk a little bit, so I told him I would drive the scooter for a little while.

I look thrilled don't I?

Driving the scooter does give you new appreciation. The little bit that I drove, let me tell you. NO ONE pays attention to anything at all. I almost ran a few people over, simply because they just cut right in front of me driving it. Gave me heart palpitations, I tell you. Since you don't know me and my driving skills, let me just educate you that I am an enraged driver. I get so angry and irritated by people. So if I had to actually drive a scooter through the parks, let me tell you. Scooter Rage. We'll make it a thing.

Pop switched with me shortly after, because he got a little tired. Soon we were making it over to the Land.

I just can't resist him. "Hello and welcome to Soarin'!"

Of course the ride was very enjoyable. I mean, would we expect any less? The line took a little longer than normal, and we were cutting it close for our lunch reservation. Actually, that's code for almost running late. So I told Pop to put his motorcycle driving skills on and just drive there as fast as he could.

He said "okay!"

As soon as the word came out of his mouth, he zoomed away. I'm not joking, zoomed. Mom and I walked very fast to stay with him, but he made it to the restaurant well before we did.

Where was our lunch today?

CANADIA!

We waited about 10 minutes and were seated. So us being a little bit late didn't make much of a difference. We had a lovely server named Chris, and I told him that my friend Katt worked in the pavilion. He said he knew her and that she was going to be leaving soon and she was really sad about it.

Now, I am going to say that I knew he was wrong, but I just smiled and nodded, and looked confused. LOL. We did discuss the half marathon coming up and I told him I wasn't really allowed to drink until the half was over, because I didn't want to dehydrate myself. He completely agreed with that, but he also told me that he felt bad for me. I know man. I know.

Of course, the pretzel bread is an amazing reason to eat here. I actually hadn't eaten in Le Cellier for quite a few years.

Mom ordered the flounder, which I have to say was outstanding! Really really yummy.

I ordered the filet and risotto. The steak was cooked perfectly. Risotto is typically too rich for me, but they only allow you to sub fries or green beans. So I ate about half of the risotto.

Pop ordered the New York strip.

The food was very good. However, still very expensive to me, and not worth 2 table service credits on the dining plan to me either. However, this is only my opinion, so if you think it's worth it, by all means keep on going!

We did order some desserts. This is their new chocolate mousse. I'm not quite so sure what's chocolate mousse about it. It tasted fine, but not moussey.

Creme brûlée loveliness. This was great.

Sorbet for Pop. Yes Rob, go ahead and start making fun! He got sorbet! (It's his one treat being diabetic).

I do have to say, that whole sorbet thing was amazing! Pear and just incredibly yummy.

Katt was texting me at this point to let me know that she had made it to the park. Her shift was starting soon, so we figured we would say hi to each other really quickly. She was heading down the ramp to the restaurant as we were leaving, so I gave her a big hug when I saw her. I told her the story about what Chris said and she told me that there are two Katt's there. Which explained why he was confusing me. I told her I looked at him like he had lost his ever loving mind. I didn't get a picture of us together, because it was very brief and she had to head to work. No worries, I would be seeing her later. :)

We started to head out of the park, because the rest of our group would be arriving soon (or so we thought), so we figured we would shop a little. And by shop a little I mean that we had to go to Mouse Gear, because of all things Mom packed for Pop, she forgot socks. haha! Too funny.

Since we were just wasting time, I took a selfie.

And also tried to get artsy apparently and took pictures of times guides in Guest Relations.

Don't judge. Sometimes you run out of things to take pictures of.

However, on our way out, this happened. The man is literally driving around in a circle going WWWHHHEEEEEEE!!!!! The one time I don't turn the video on....

Up next: That's NOT 3 hours.......

Who knew your mom was a criminal who steals MagicBands? She seems so nice ... it's always the nice ones who go around stealing MBs.

Scooter Rage should definitely be a thing ... people are not so nice to those on scooters (of course, the people on the scooters are not always so nice either ... but that's a different story entirely).

That chocolate mousse definitely doesn't look like any mousse I'm used to ...but the creme brulee does look very bruleed.

I didn't know they sell socks at Mouse Gear (although, really, there isn't much that they don't sell at Mouse Gears).

Going around in circles shouting "WWWHHHEEEEEEE" ... I can't imagine what the people around you were thinking. "Is this guy crazy or just a lot of fun?"

Catching back up! Love Papadon's attitude about life! Your journey has been amazing! You are a real inspiration.

I haven't eaten at LC since they switched over to 2 credits. I miss the cheese soup and the pretzel sticks
!

I never would have guessed that was the problem with her band. :upsidedow Did she need to show an ID to prove that her band wasn't stolen?
