Here is a desciption:
My ears pop when I swallow. Sometimes they pop softly and the more I swallow the louder it seems to get (maybe it's because I think about it LOL), or sometimes my ears don't pop but the act of swallowing is abnormally loud.

What do you think it is and have you ever had anything like this???

My husband had this for months and he finally went to an ENT doctor. Turned out he had a short hair in his ear. He had no idea how it got there. Anyway the doctor removed it and no more popping. He said they had a hard time getting the hair out though...but it didn't hurt!

BTW I could never hear it popping!

My ears always 'pop' when I swallow. I thought that was normal? Sheesh, and I thought I knew a lot about medical stuff!! Hoping for more answers.........

You might have fluid behind your eardrum. I would see an ENT. Good luck!

Congestion. I get it when I'm recovering from a cold or ear infection. In fact, it's happening right now.

Do things get louder or softer when it happens?

I think sometimes it may have something to do with air pressure. I alwyas get it in an airplane or driving in high elevations.

This is pretty common following a cough or cold. Its a thickening of fluid in the middle ear that causes popping and crackling. The Eustachian tube runs from your throat to your ear and this is what becomes blocked with that sticky mess! Have you tried a decongestant that contains pseudoephedrine? Steam can also help. It can take a while before clearing up.

Join the Club - me too. :confused3

It is probably eustanchianitis (spelling?), an inflammation of the eustanchian tube. That is the tube that runs between your ear and throat. You probably have some sort of congestion (or had congestion) that led up to it. It usually goes away on its own, but it can take weeks. Sometimes decongestant helps.

My ears started popping like that after I was in an accident 3 years ago. They haven't stopped.

I will check into that more. :goodvibes
