I wanted to check in and say hi!!! What happens to the thread if we all stop posting? Do they eventually delete it, or does it remain forever great int he DIS archives???

I think eventually it just moves down the list until it is gone. I'm not sure if it is ever officially gone. When I do a search sometimes it pulls up posts from years ago

ok so I get home last night to this message on my answering machine

"This is Ron XXXX, Superintendent of School District 47 with an important message. At the end of the day on Monday, May 7th a threatening message was found written on a bathroom wall at Bernotas Middle School. The police were notified immedately in an attempt to determine who wrote the message and why. Because this is now a police matter under investigation, details of the message cannot be released. This message is simply to assure you that the Bernotas administration and staff will work with the Crystal Lake Police Department to provide heightened security levels within the school while this incident is being investigated"


***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok, so I panic, I call other parents, no one knows what to do. The band concert is today/tonight. If they would have told us what the message said, I could have made a much better assessment...did it say "the band is toast" or did it say "I'm gonna shoot Mr blah blah"....After much discussion and debate we decided to send Casey to school. She's worked really hard for her oboe solo and I know it's probably just a punk kid being a moron. BUT we had the whole conversation of what to do "if" ...man is that a discussion I wish we never had to have with our children. it absolutely sucks that I needed to do that. We talked about throwing something thru a window to get out, barracading the door with a desk, NOT crying no matter what, not making eye contact, not trying to save/help anyone whatsoever, not going out in the hall to see what wa shappening, dropping and playing dead if needed.

PJ - what else???? I told her as calmly as I could, I know she was freaked out, but I tried to explain it just like they explain evacuation an airplane.


ok so when I'm not freaking out today, I'm pacing, when I'm not pacing, I'm EATING! UGH just get me and my daughter thru this day please

Oh my goodness Chris ! That gave me chills. I can't imagine having that conversation with Austin She will make it home safe and sound - just hang in there !!

Just wanted to check in real quick I leave in 3 days and am sooo excited! i've been having a lot of pain recently and my muscles in my left leg are starting to atrophy which is driving me crazy walking wise. I'm crying and sometimes i just can't walk. It lasts about 2 days and then the 3rd is a dull ache and then by the next it's gone..only to resurface again the following week and such. Sciatica seems to be the answer

I did get cortisone shots for my wrist and my CTS, but all in all, this pregnancy is CRAZY compared to the last! i feel physically great other than that! just really afraid of WDW!! Soo...i'm trying to relax as much as possible.

Dad is getting his testing done and the big Stress test is tomorrow, so we are getting there slowly

I'm crying and sometimes i just can't walk. It lasts about 2 days and then the 3rd is a dull ache and then by the next it's gone..only to resurface again the following week and such. Chris--That is scary. If they were going to tell you about the note, they should've told you what it said! I would've called the principal/superintendant and badgered him. Another reason to homeschool and go to WDW whenever you want.

Okay, so did I rant to you guys about how the school district is going to open their own preschool and shut us down? Well now another daycare center from another territory is opening up a before/after school program in the elementary school that feeds us (the kids come to our center after school). And they aren't being charged rent or anything!!! At first I was angry because I hadn't thought of it first, but then I realized the school board never would've allowed a faith-based center to have the schools for free. Argh!

WOW, I don't know what to say. 99% of the times it's just some moron kid, playing games, sadly the playing dead is right, if the gunman is close by. If not throw a desk/chair anything out a window and get out. Once in view of any officals keep your hands up and in view at all times, remember they don't know who the good ones are and who is the bad guy, they all just look like kids.

If wounded or hurt, try to control all bleeding with direct pressure, Saftey above all else, but if able to stay still and if wounded or hurt, control any bleeding and lay flat with legs raised on a chair. If there is still a danger, control the bleeding with direct pressure and get out as quickly as you can.

Use any means to contact the police, if in school and no phone is around, pull the fire alarm, the police will respond to any report of a school fire right away. If unable to get out, find a hiding place and keep low and quiet!! Dont be a hero!! If in immedaite danger and have no escape route, use fire Extinguishers as a weapon, if filled with foam they will cause the eyes to freeze and burn on contact, also will cause a few minutes of loss of vision.

It's so sad we need to discuss this. I'm sure all will be ok, some punk kid playing games.
