Ok ladies (and PJ!) I HAVE to start getting my hosue together. It is a wreck. Shopping bags everywhere.... my PQ stuff out and about. I still need to find a place for the in-laws to sleep. Ryan told his grandma that grandpa can sleep outside with the dog! Ah, kids. (did I tell you all that already? Early old timers disease! )
Tomorrow will be my starting day. IT has to get done! Although there are about 1000 other things i NEED to do as well. Deep breath. It will all fall into place, I just know it!

good luck with all that!! my house is just like a play room explosion happened! toys everywhere!

Just a thought....If the items go all to one place we all are really paying to ship it twice. With regard to my package, it was four pounds and cost over nine dollars to ship. That could get expensive to ship to one address and include $ to ship out again to the recipient. Just something to add to the equation as we kick around ideas....

My house is an explosion too! Two kids who pick up nothing behind themselves, and the 18 month old just pulls stuff out, to pull stuff out.... or maybe they have bets on how loud they can get mom to scream! Drives me bonkers! Never mind the crackers that get crushed everywhere! The entire front hallway are tubs of Christmas presents to go out the door. The ones that are staying in our own home are hiding down the cellar! I get how you all feel, I am so overwhelmed! I just keep taking my happy pills and it all calms down!!!!! hee hee hee

I am going to try to post more often so that I can stay on the SS list

Good night all, everyone else is asleep, I guess I should go too, DD has school in the AM. Sweet dreams about WDW!!!! :cloud9:

I think for next year's SS it should be people who do post here often and feel like they know each other. That feels more trustworthy.
Actually, everyone who signed up posted here quite often at the time. And they ALL psted here a lot before our trip. I think it might be kind of hard to open a SS swap to a thread but then tell people they can't participate because they don't post enough. If we want to have a closed swap then we need to do it privately in PM's so nobody's feelings get hurt. Just my .02.

Well I should probably go to bed too. I just got off the phone with my hubby. We are still short in his paychecks and I am getting really frustrated. :sad2: The finance guy told him (DH) 2 days ago it should drop any minute. So HOPEFULLY it hits tomorrow. It amazes me at this time of year how fast money falls into the store's cash registers. I swear if we do not get this money soon I am gonna blow a fuse. :furious: And this is money from AUGUST and SEPTEMBER!!!! Not to mention they still owe for October and November. I told Terry I am going to go to the JAG office. He kind of tsked me and said "Do what you must my dear!" :lmao: He knows when I get to my breaking point to just let me do my thing. Good thing I can contain myself for looooong periods of time.
K, nighty night POPpers!

Oh, and I agree with the double shipping charges on SS gifts. Maybe everyone should mail me a check or whatever (only the cost of a stamp) with what they want to buy and I can get it and ship them all out? That would take a HUGE amount of trust on your parts, but it might work. We'll see how this plays out. Maybe we need to have a trial SS run during the summer! :teeth: You know, to test our new system and all. ALL in the quest for the PERFECT way to handle a Secret Santa swap. ;) ;) nudge nudge

Tia: I don't think you should have to buy and ship for everyone. We are all adults and should be able to follow directions if we choose to participate. It wasn't difficult. Picking out things was fun, and shipping by the 8th wasn't life-threatening. Everyone has different schedules though I guess.

I just don't like the idea of several people sitting out there (no longer on disboards), receiving a very special gift in the mail and not doing their part. Esp. if they have a sheet of paper with their SS' name & address on it and all their likes and dislikes. That is just rude. :furious: I feel taken that I shopped at MK on our trip for the right gift. That was special.

Dear God, can I move on now? I need to not care.

Morning everyone

Hey there Mich! Nice to see ya!!! Sorry dd is so sick. I just hate it when kids are in the hospital - that's so awful. I remember when Casey was 1 she had a febrile seizure & they kept her overnight...the hospital "crib" looked like a cage to me & I absolutely hated it! I refused toput my baby in there! So I slept with her on a regular hospital bed! I hope Autumn is feeling MUCH bettr soon!

ok , now I know there was a lot more i wanted to say...it's gone....gotta go back & re read

Hello!

It will also be the first Christmas since my oldest DD died this past May. She was married and lived out of state, so wasn't home the last few Christmases. It just doesn't feel right to go shopping and not buy anything for her! Also her birthday is December 27th! I'd really like to just completely skip December this year!:sad1:

Chris-you said you make "appetisery" things? I need to bring some "fingery-food" things to my sister's for Christmas. Do you have any ideas? My DD and I are vegetarian, so nothing with meat. Also, I don't really cook, so the easier the better!

Okay, now aren't you sorry you asked me to post? Once I get started, I'm hard to shut up! :teeth:

cDoobee - NOPE i'm glad you posted!!!!

I'm so sorry about your dd. The holidays take on such a different meaning after you lose someone you love. It's my belief that a parent should never have to bury their child - baby, teen or adult - there's something just not right about that. I hope that you have many years of happy memories to smile and look back on with your dd.

let's see.....most of my dh's family is vegan so let me see what they're made....bruchetta (not sure if i spelled that right), mango salsa, do you eat cheese? there's a pine nut cheese thingy my mil always makes, cheese puffs, potato skins....I basically go to Sams club and buy whatever they're sampling that day!!! hahah

QUESTION:

For a kids party (even though mostly adults will be in attendance!) is it totally unacceptable to serve pizza? i sooo don't feel like spending a ton of money on catering like i did for Autumns b-day last year and be left with all this food :sad2:

=======

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's still the KIDS party!!! Pizza is a food group for kids isn't it?

For te pinata...do you have time to order from Oriental Trading? They have some fun cool toy/prize/candy stuff...

I'm not sure I would do money.....how old are the kids? would you have any young ones picking it up & puttin it in their mouth????

I don't think i can fill up a page by myself! i have only 9 posts and i think it's 15 to a page! haha!! sooo i have too many to go!

There is a good thread on the BUDGET boards about Stockings..

Do you guys do them in your family and if so what do you put in them?

I am putting

a Starbucks gift car
a Mcdonalds Gift card
and something else in DHs!

The kids have Fisher Price little people and Cars and such in theirs!

I need to go read that!

Let's see Gracie has - candy, paddle ball, yo-yo, tickets to see her beloved Doodlebops in march.

Casey has Starbucks gift card, make up, nail polish

Mike has: hmm, wait I haven't gotten his started yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow.

Anyway, I was part of the WASABI challenge for 3 days. I got picked as an alternate, was seriously confused, and then my team got eliminated. :rotfl2: So now I'm back to being an audience member again.QUOTE]

I didn't get the whole thing! It was too confusing to me!!!!!!!!!!!

GREAT! pizza it is! as far as little kids, Gabriel would be the smallest, then Autumn and she's over the whole mouth thing and Gabriel won't be playing :( he's too small, we might hold him and let him swing the stick real lquick hahah!! Other than that the youngest is like 6 ::yes::

hahaha!! yes it will be SUPER CRAZY! That's why we decided to spend Christmas Day on the DCL and THEN head over to the WORLD. We will still have to compete with the NEW YEARS crowds, but that's why we're staying so long it flips to VALUE season right afterwards...soooo we should get at leat 5 smaller crowd days!!

oooooo if free dining did pop up, i would be sooooooooo tempted to go! but with the Cruise, i think we're pretty much in a no change situation :teeth:
