We are going to WDW in Sept. and planning on staying at POP and this is our 1st ever trip to WDW so I was hoping someone could tell me which building would be the best?

Hi
We've stayed at Pop 5 times and really liked the location of our rooms. The first time was in the 50's, and the other times were in the 70's. The 60's are preferred as is some of the 50's and 70's. You pay a little more a night, (I think $10. for those rooms. I like the 70's the best and I always a request a room closest to the busses and food court. The 70's have the water Goofy jets for little kids, and my DGD had a good time running through them. Our room in the 50's section was really quiet. We were in the Tramp building and
it was very quiet, not facing the pool. Have a great time at Pop. It's a really fun resort!!

Strictly depends on your "likes" and desires...below is a link that shows you a map of the property and where the preferred rooms are located...maybe this will help with your decision.

By-the-way...we will be there in Sept too!!!:cloud9:

I'd definately choose the preferred rooms. We stayed in the 50s section this past time, waaay down at the end of it. It was very quiet, so not much noise at night. But it was a long walk to busses and the food court.
So it all depends on what you're looking for. If you want to be near the main area, choose a preferred room, otherwise, the 50s area was great for quiet!

I think I am booked for a standard room. Is that going to affect much? Do I get to chose what building or is it chosen for me? I am travelling alone and plan on returning some nights really late is the resort safe to walk around at night?

I didn't see a link but would love to see if it you could try to post it. I have another question also, the map I have shows some buildings have smoking rooms available. I would prefer not to have one of these rooms, do I need to ask this specifically?

Also, we have asked for the 90's building because we wanted to be near the computer pool (my son loves the keyboard on the ground) but now that I'm looking at the map I'm wondering if I should have asked for 80's?? We did not ask for preferred. Any input would be appreciated!

Maybe someone else can help me out with this, but I believe all Disney rooms are non-smoking now! Personally, I'm thrilled! :)

We've stayed in the 70's, 80's and 60's buildings and liked them all. Each section of the resort has something that makes it unique from the others. Th 80's was closest to the buses, the 60's was closest to the pool, the 70's was the quieter of the locations we stayed. Just depends on what you're looking for. :)

if u have little kids who will fall asleep on ride back to resort (either daytime nap or nighttime bedtime) its nicer if u book a preferred room and worth the ten dollar per night addl charge simply due to the walk to your room with a sleeping child. (we rent strollers IN the parks)-if u bring your own strollers its not such a big deal cuz youre not carrying them to the room, theyre asleep(or groggy) IN THE strollers. Just a (hopefully) helpfull hint :wizard:

We stayed in Pop last year. We were in the 50's in the building with the jukebox. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the bowling pin pool. It was great. It was close enough to the main building that we could walk there in less than 5 minutes, even with my slow-poke kids :lmao: We were also far enough away from the noisiness of the main building not to be disturbed at night. I much prefer to away the main area expecially at night so that the kids can have some quiet to unwind.

And all Disney resorts are non-smoking. They have designated smoking areas around the resorts but all rooms are now non-smoking.

WE SATYED IN 80 WITH THE RUBIX CUBE
close to the pool colse to the buses, and food court!
loved it:cloud9:

We stayed last year and stayed in the 50's building facing the top of the bowling pin pool. It was as a standard room and we loved it. This August we will be in a preferred room... I am hoping for the 60's building just to see if it is better to be closer...

To be honest though, we just stayed at the Poly, and everything is so spread out there. The POP is not as spread out, so even if you are in a standard room, you are still not way way far away.

Best room we've had at Pop was in 50s Building A, facing the base of the Bowling Pin pool. We were very close to the elevator, but not close enough that we experienced any noise. Also, we could take a little shortcut to the front of the Classic Hall. It was ideal. I'm trying to decide where we want to stay for our upcoming trip. We have a preferred room for our first night (all we could get) and a standard room for the rest. Hopefully, they'll leave us in our preferred room, but I'm definitely not counting on it!

I've stayed at pop four times and have loved it every time, the best buildings that are close to the main building are the 50's and 60's buildings but if you want an awesome room you should try the 80's building but its extremely far away from classic hall...hope i could help

What is it about the 80's building that makes it awesome enough to be worth the walk? We have requested the 90's room for our next trip, were in 50's last time.
