Just finalizing plans for our first December trip, in many years, with daugther, son-in-law and almost 3 year twin grand babies. I have been reading the horror stories about Pop Warner week on the theme parks board. Is it really as bad as it sounds or does it depend on where you are staying? It has been several years since we have been the first part of Dec. so PW was never an issue. Does anyone recommend the 2nd. week of Dec. as being more desirable? Does it affect the theme parks or is it mostly at the PW hotels? We would prefer the first week but can do the following week if Pop Warner will be an issue. We will be booking our home resort, OKW. With toddlers in tow we would prefer to avoid the really large, boisterous crowds. Any insight and personal experience would be appreciated.

I was at BWV 12/1 to 12/7 and it wasn't an issue. Except for Saturday, crowds were light all week.

Thanksgiving is late next year, it's possible PW might be the week of Dec 7 next year. From what I read, they usually hold their regional championships Thanksgiving weekend, then travel to WDW the following weekend.

We were there for PW week last year. We had no problems, except for the crowds at the MK that Saturday. It was also the day they were filming the Christmas parade.

I'm sure some people have had their issues, but I hear more often that people aren't bothered by the PW groups.

Where are you staying?

We were there Dec 2-9 this year and if not for the boards probably never would have known Pop Warner was going on. We were at all 4 parks at various times throughout the week and never had any issues.

I am one of the people that posted on the other boards. I was there this year for PW week and I did not even notice them. Until of course I moved to AS Sports on Friday night.:scared1: But I do not think you will have a problem at the DVC resorts. Have fun!

Thanks everyone, you have made us feel better about our choice of weeks. I am sure we will have a great time. We have never had any issues with any of our DVC stays in the past 13 years. Sure didn't want any the first time we take our first grandkids.
