Does anyone know when pop warner week is in December? All I know is early Dec.

Pop Warner National Championships are held December 4th thru the 10th this year. We had planned on this week for some time so I have made it a point to learn as much as I can about this event :) There are many differing opinions here on the Boards from people who have been there during this time of year. From what I have read the consensus seems to be that if you are not staying at one of the Resorts the Cheer or Football teams are staying at the impact of this large group is minimal. That being said I have also visited the Pop Warner website and read the message boards there and this is the first year they will all be completely staying on site and according to their site they have already prebooked the rooms in excess....as I guess there were problems in the past with rooms (per the Pop Warner post).
I called CRO the other day to see if I could ascertain what Resorts had rooms blocked so I could prepare myself if they were at the Resort we are planning on staying at. They would not comment on this and I guess for privacy reasons I understand but I think if I am paying $5000 for a trip to WDW the least they could do is let me prepare for the possibility of staying in a place with lots of young people. I am in no way disparaging the Pop Warner group because if I was in any way negative toward them I obviously wouldn't go that week I just want to be prepared....you know? They are there to have fun just like we are :)
I know in the past they have stayed at the All Stars, some at the PC, CBR and POR riverside. I just wonder if they are all on site this year if they will just give them a resort all to themselves this time?
Anyway I know this was a really long answer to your post so sorry :)

I would also like to know where they are staying. We are booked at POR right now we are trying to figure out if we can afford BC to avoid Pop Warner. We love POR and for a family of 5 that is our best option money wise. Guess we will have to wait and see.

All big groups like Pop Warner stay at the All Stars. The reason for this is the these are the only resorts that have the ability to check in such a large group. WDW has an area just for them to check in to. So you will not be seeing them checking in at the front desk.
Now that does not mean you won't see them at other resorts if the familes want to pay the difference, but the majority will be at the AS's.
I have been down there during the same time the last 5 years and have even stayed at the AS's. Yes sometimes you can have groups of cheerleaders out practicing but one complant to the front desk and it stops.
PW has told the groups before they come down that there will be no practices at the resorts, but sometimes they need to be reminded of it.
The food courts can be busy during regular meal times but off times are ok.
I still haven't seen any noticable increase at the parks ever though.
usally there is one day that MGM might close early for them but that's about it.

Go ,play, have fun we always do.

I'm going the first week in December despite Pop Warner week.

It's still one of the quietest weeks of the year in the parks.

As a bonus, they probably won't fill up the good sitdown resturants.

We're staying at CSR, and will upgrade to WL if better rates come out.

The only problem for us is Cirque is dark that week. Oh well, can't have everything.

We stay at POP so I will never again go the week of Pop Warner. Went last year and...well, like I said, never again.

However, if you are staying at a deluxe or, I think, CSR, you should be fine. You do see the kids in the parks but they don't really make much of a difference unless you're unlucky enough to get stuck in a room with one of the obnoxious groups. Certainly not all of the kids are obnoxious, in fact they are probably a minority, but one time stuck in the stretching room at HM with 15 continuously screaming, cheering, giggling cheerleaders is more than enough.

So bar an unlucky episode like that, which can really happen with any larger group of giddy people, you'll be fine. I would only be wary if staying at a value or one of the mods that the group stays in.

We were at WDW last year from the 4-11. We stayed at VWL and only encountered the Pop Warner groups in the parks. Yes, many of them were loud and obnoxious; but many were fine, too, and would chat with my family on the monorail, etc. I don't recall seeing any of the groups at MVMCP, but that doesn't mean they weren't there - MVMCP was far more crowded than we thought it would be - and much more crowded than MK during the day.

We were told Pop Century is the only resort onsite that you can NOT do group reservations with discounts for. This was from a special events CM who was taking care of our Family Reunion reservations. So if you want to make sure there won't be any of the Pop Warner kids at your resort, stay there. (Unless they are staying with their parents, as an earlier poster said.) CSR is the moderate resort for conventions, so they might stay there???

Based on what I have read over the last few months...and I have read a lot :) Last year the Pop Warner groups stayed at the All Stars, Pop, POR Riverside and some at CBR. Some of the most negative posts I read were in regards to those who stayed at the Pop Century...mainly because they were surprised the groups were staying there.
Anyone know anything else?
